Video game graphics should be in three categories1) Super Mario World (the climax of 16 bit)2) Breath of Fire IV (anime JRG 32 bit)3) Shenmue - Outrun 2006Everything else is just wasting money to be honest. Video games dont need to have variety of graphics. We should abolish Unreal Engine and other modern engines like RE engine and stop wasting money on thisYakuza games on PS2 are the maximum of graphic fidelity we need.

>>737643106Pixel art is not the ultimate form of 2D art
Videogames trying to mimick the look of realism and adding realism to it aren't real videogames. They are interactive movies at best.
>>737643817Just because your Nintendo is ass doesn't mean that games with good graphics are bad.
mgsv was low poly kinoamazing visuals and very well optimizedthat is the golden standard
>>737643106We can go a bit up the tree desu, late PS3 graphics were the sweetspot. They were difficult back then because you had to stick everything into 256 megs of RAM and work with Sony's wackjob architecture, but up the RAM like on WiiU or Switch and it's trivial to achieve very nice looking graphics even without significant power increases. Phones can run a game looking like this nowadays.

>>737643975The lighting in it still looks better than in most modern AAA games. The Fox engine was something else.
PS1 3d graphics was a scam by investors. No one thought that looked good. The investors had to desperately market their new "3d game" tech and players went along with it because of the gameplay. Now that 3d peaked with stylized 3d in Genshin/Botw, it finally looks good. It can more or less compete with 2d games. That's why a game ought to be either genshin 3d or SF2A pixel 2d.
