I feel like Total War also suffers from the fact that at higher difficulties the game is busting your balls in the first 20 turns that you win every battle and do so with minimal casualties. It never feels like rising kingdoms competing for territory, you're just expected to win with a crapstack of tier 1 garbage until your legendary lord can actually field a mid tier army and you just steamroll everyone.

The important part here is that they have wizards shielding them from the fire so they don't burn to death.

Then slowly descends to madness because his mother keeps manipulating him, until he goes back to his senses after that visit in the Chaos Warp because of his retreat from the second (I think it was the second?) invasion of Ulthuan.I still really like Malekith, even though his story is incomplete here and there. It's cool to see a guy descend to darkness and then eventually come back to his senses, even after all the shit he has done. I’ve been reading Malus’ first book, and while it’s interesting to read about a race so vile, it’s also exhausting for everyone to be such a monster. This is a really funny read after some Drizz’t novels, though, because it’s like they took DnD dark elves and cranked them to 11.
