One of the criticisms I've seen of E33 is its supposed forced tragedy, melodrama and "please cry now" moments. Well, I was in theatre today (Horatio by Pierre Corneille) and I've seen the same elements used, but even more extreme. Avoidable tragedy, coincidences, impassioned speeches, screaming, openly shedding tears; and yet, it was a great, cathartic experience.
Why do /v/ermin insist on viewing everything through their cold, cynical eye? Why, when faced with a sincere attempt at eliciting emotion instead of doing the usual song and dance of quips and "well, that just happened", do they reject it instead of celebrating it? You may not like the specifics of how they did it, you may find it cheap, you may dislike the story's direction, but you should celebrate the return of sincerity in storytelling and expressing emotion; the death of marvelshit.

A story that heavily about death should have sad moments.

Ripped off entire concept from a Dark Souls level.

If a game has more depth than Bing Bing Wahoo 2, then it's "le too deep for you mature story for mature people such as myself".

The funny thing is, Guillaume wasn't even trying to create a 'deep' philosophical story, he dislikes that. He was just trying to tell a plain old character-driven tragedy.

Emotional moments are kino when done right (danganronpa V3 case 1) not when you're forced to care about characters you weren't given the proper time to know. simple as

Nine Sols has much less budget, barely any voice acting and got me almost crying at the end compared to anything in Expedition 33. It was less forced and the ending a true, relatable gut punch because Yi's mistakes were relatable. Maelle and Verso are retarded

It's subject to a patent by Nintendo of America LLC and anyone using jumping in their game should be sued to the ground.

A large chunk of the gaming community is antisocial and has never experienced love or even basic friendship. You can't expect them to respond to a story that revolves around relationships. They don't have the frame of reference to appreciate it.
