You got more creativity out of limited hardware resources. Now everything looks the same, plays the same, despite the average PC/console having shitloads of power available.

No, it's just video games made by Nintendo are better quality than most other attempts at the medium. Ocarina of Time isn't any better than Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, or Twilight Princess, or Skyward Sword, or BOTW/TOTK. Nintendo is simply the master of making video games.

Generally yeah. Few games since Deus Ex approach it, let alone surpass it.

No, its just that modern vidya are so abysmal dogshit that we have to crawl back to the past to play old schlop in our library.
One of these days i'll get one of those vita/ps2 filled with old games and never look towards steam again or looking forwards to any newest slop in the market

Shit take, all Nintendo's games on Switch 2 are good. Mario Kart World for example. If you liked PS2 and Vita that just goes to show that you were dumb in the past and are even dumber now. PS2's games aged like complete shit for the most part. Gamecube games aged like fine wine.

Yes. Many absolute bangers would come out every year. Now we're lucky to get even one banger within a two year period. Yes, there are still good indies but only a small handful of them can compete with the old and the old ones are free other than your preferred method of emulating or perhaps a CRT.

people consoom ff13 these days dwspite that game being a literal dogwater back then as proven by constant ff13 thread on the 'log. Why? Because ff15 and 16 are even more autist than old ff that people are willing to play ff13 again. Same mentality is the reason why i want to play old slop in vita/ps2

I've had Pokemon Stadium for over 20 years on my N64, and I still play it every once in a while. I got Fortnite in 2017 and stopped playing Fortnite in 2017. You tell me. Lol.

They were. We didn't realize it at the time but the primitive graphics made games feel incredibly unique. It's not even about whether it turned into "moviegames" or not. It's only about the fact that game development studios became too big, so creative vision takes a backseat for comfort-slop like remakes or sequels that are only praised because the 13 year gap since its PS2 game has made 30 year olds forget how shit it was, and general bar is so low that zoomies will think it's great.

And it's about graphics being too normalized with CGI at this point. Games just look kind of good but unimpressive now. Part of that is also that because graphics are good, developers think they can get away with just having all action centered behind the player or OTS. But play most older games, and there's a lot more dynamic stuff going on with the camera, pretty consistently. Emphasizing the scale of the geometry vs the player moving through it. When everything is just viewed behind the player for "immersion" it ironically becomes un-immersive the longer you do it.
