This is legitimately the best 2D Mario game. It's amazing in charm, how it feels to control Mario, and creative levels, not to mention that every single level has a Wonder effect. The only minus are the annoying ass flowers that talk nonstop.

I played it a good while after release and I'm still not sure I get why people are down on it. Yeah, it's not perfect but I still found the game to be an overall fun romp. Controls great, looks gorgeous, every single level getting a wonder thngy is incredibly impressive. And most of them are pretty damn good, too. Becoming a jelly blob was a definite highlight. Off the top my head, the only one that felt like a bit of a slog was when you became a goomba and it turned into MGS. Bosses were definitely a weak point, but still didn't bring it down too bad.And because I"m such a massive whore for Rosalina, I bought the DLC.
