why do single player games need roadmaps?

>usable melee weapons
>usable guns
>fabien segments are a bit less fucked pacing-wise.
See? Complaining works if you're lucky enough to complain to devs who give a shit.
>>
>>737670581
I thought anyone complaining was a chud and the game wasn't made for them?
>>
>>737670078
You can't fix this game man
>from developers who likely have never held a gun before
It was over before it started.
>>737670138
Nu-corpo thing to show shareholders that things are happening. They like it, for some reason
>>
I forgot this game even came out.
Wish I hadn't remembered.
>>
>>737670776
>They like it, for some reason
They see live service games have them so they think all games should have them.
>>
>>737670078
So to my understanding the Bloodlines name was forced upon it.
It's probably not a bad licensed game for that World of Darkness franchise though. I'm just reluctant to pick it up.
Hunter: The Reckoning - Deathwish is something that I'm actually looking forward to on the other hand.
>>
>>737670841
Yeah, it is what it is. Total shareholder death must happen at some point for the industry to heal.
>>737671117
Kind of
>TCR volunteered to cheaply finish work on Bloodlines 2 by their publisher
>TCR says they can finish the game but that it would be better to scrap it as bloodlines 2 entirely and retool it as a different game
>Paradox says NO and forced it to stay bloodlines 2
They volunteered for it and realized probably too late that it was more trouble than it was worth to salvage. Good for them, it's kind of mediocre but it's probably good practice for them making real games. The real issue is hiring all the artistic vision behind machine for pigs, but they're too engrained in the studio anyway. As for Deathwish, same here. They worked on a rather good Robocop game before Deathwish so hopefully we get to see that talent again.
>>
>>737670078
For a vampire the masquerade game, this was pretty good.

Should have never been called bloodlines 2.
>>
>>737670172
There's a third DLC focused on Niko so maybe they'll overhaul the stealth design to be more imsim like. Can only hope.
>>
>>737670776
The gameplay designer on Bloodlines 2 was was hired because he worked on Crysis Warhead and Crysis 2. You probably noticed a lot of similar vibes. Lead audio designer came from Crysis as well, IIRC.
>>
>>737670078
I'm more impressed they didn't immediately give up on this game, considering their comments before the game released
>>
>>737670650
I don't remember anyone from Paradox or the dev complaining about chuds.
>>
Waiting another few months for guns sucks, but I am going to start a new playthrough with the melee patch. I remember feeling this immense frustration when I arrived at the anarch bar and there was a knife stuck in the wall, there was a pool cue on the floor, there was a shotgun behind the bar, and I could only throw the knife and cue at people and mag dump the shotgun.

When I use my mind powers to snatch a machete off a table I want to tear shit up with that machete. Not awkwardly throw it at a single enemy. Hand to hand should be a last resort or a flex.
>>
>>737672502
How did it end up in this weird state where it has just about serviceable gameplay?
>>
game is dogshit and story is dogshit, it's just like sharfield, no matter what they do you can't fix a turd
>>
>>737670581
How do you know "updated save feature" means quicksaving?
>>
>>737670078
Unless they're rewriting the whole story, I doubt it.

>>
AFAIK these DLCs are the first time you've ever been allowed to play as sabbat in a VTM videogame.
>>
>>737676649
Aren't both Cam vampires? Iirc the black girl is Anarch rather than Sabbat
>>
>>737673816
The Hardsuit version had guns and melee, and was a disjointed mess. I think there was this vision of a very tight, focused kind of brawler game. The game's project name is "Wrestler". But it was a bad idea. Other games have settled on guns and melee weapons for a good reason. It seems like they just couldn't bring themselves to go back to what Hardsuit had done. They threw in telekinesis as a bandaid fix. There's a huge mismatch where movement feels really good but actually fighting is a button mashing slog.
>>
>>737674287
Partially because the game files have a folder called New Save System with code for save, load, delete save, etc.
>>
>>737676694
Almost the entire court is sabbat. Safia is sabbat, Benny is sabbat, Ysabella is sabbat, and even Tolly is questionable. He could very well be a sabbat playing both sides.

Ysabella wants to tear down the masquerade because art or something. I assume the DLC will elaborate on it.
>>
>>737676649
>>737677007
benny is sabbat in the way that darth maul was a sith
>>
>>737677467
To be fair everyone except maybe the gardener has this "oh, I'm not like the others" thing going on. Even Safia tries to make excuses about how at least the sabbat are honest.
>>
>>737677787
safia was probably also a patsy to some extent desu

game really needs a system of blocking, parrying, counter, etc or something

>>
>le engoodening
They would have to scrap the whole game and then fund a bunch of Bloodlines fans and modders to make a proper sequel.
>>

I wish we'd get a Changeling the Dreaming game
>>
so is it worth a pirate after these updates?
>>
Ysabella is absolutely a true believer. Sword of Caine, mass human sacrifice, tearing down the masquerade and smashing the cammies. Then again sha basically pulls a suicide by cop so maybe she had the foresight to realize it was all stupid and pointless.
>>
>>737678381
totally natural organic post bro
>>
>>737678054
It has only been six months to be fair. Adding guns to Dying Light 2 took TWO YEARS.
>>737678060
Nobody knows yet. Devs are fucking terrible at communication.
>>
>>737678030
I'm curious if you'll be able to block while holding melee weapons. And yes, the dodge + awful janky parry system sucks. We just have to wait and see unfortunately.
>>
>>737678343
No clue, have to see if the melee combat update delivers. It's still another 2-3 months before they patch guns.
>>
>>737678381
There are really early placeholder text to speech voice lines of her romancing Verona and doing some kind of performance where she calls someone up on stage and feeds on them. But most of the lines are just line 1, line 2, reply line 3, etc.
>>
I bet they'll pull a Burial at Sea retcon-fest and reveal that the Gardener's rings are mind control rings (which is why Benny removed his) that bend them to the Gardener's will. Ysabella will thus be a more sympathetic figure who got in over her head or something.
>>
>>737670078
>game panned, people have moved on
>still releasing updates at this point
Why?
>>
>>737670078
The main problem with the game is that it was bland.
>>
>>737670581
>>737670650
They definitely made a big deal about how it's stupid for vampires to use guns.
>>
>>737679061
Because this is the face of the brand. It's going to define the legacy of World of Darkness for decades to come, so abandoning it instead of fixing it is bad for business. It's the same reason CDPR felt so compelled to keep patching The Witcher 1, The Witcher 2, The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk, and Techland to keep patching Dead Island, Dying Light, Dying Light 2, even Call of Juarez had major overhaul patches post-release that revamped stealth and mission design.

The truth is that most of the stuff fans complained about, the devs had been complaining about for years. The devs were unhappy with a lot of aspects of the project that were forced on them. They were having to write around them, design around them. Phyre being fanatically anti-sabbat wasn't something the lead writer was fond of, but it had been established early in dev and pivoting was too hard/too expensive/etc.
>>
>>737679467
Vampires using modern technology is a big part of the appeal of the setting.
>>
>>737679467
No, they never called it stupid. Just that they were trying to make a game oriented around feeling like a supernatural predator. This idea clearly didn't work, but it seems like this message didn't get through until way too late in development. You didn't even have telekinesis originally it was just pure punching and kicking and vampire abilities. They added telekinesis because playtesters kept complaining about not being able to pick up dropped weapons. There should have been a serious "we need to fundamentally rethink this game" moment, but it never came. Now they're trying to rethink the whole thing. It's very similar to Dying Light 2 getting this hyper-fixation on "We're not gonna have guns because it's a new dark age" and then two years later finally caving and adding them.
>>
>>737678719
I played pure melee toreador in vtmb so yeah i'll wait for that
>>
>>737679680
I don’t believe you. It seems awfully convenient that all this “we were forced to make it like this!” shit is coming out now after the game flopped horribly. Meanwhile during previews the tone was “our direction is the only direction and old fans who want an actual rpg are clueless”
>>
>>737670078
Nice, I'll wait for Bloodlines 3 :^)
>>
>>737681371
Melee patch is on Monday, I think. I wish they'd actually communicate how exactly it works. Do the weapons break? Are there melee weapon finishers? Can we carry melee weapons anywhere or do we have to drop them to open doors and find a new one? This matters.
>>
>>737676930

>>
>>737681593
Good luck finding any quotes like that from The Chinese Room, the studio that refused to call it Bloodlines 2 in interviews for months on end.
>>
>>737682025
Yea, there's been WIP stuff for a new save system in the game files for a few months. But the trouble is that you never know what the final version will look like.

every single AA shitware has an engoodening arc now
i wonder who the hell finances these games after they initially fail miserably
>>
>>737683496
I was there in the threads yknow as interviews were being posted. They were literally saying “we made it like bioware!” like it was a good thing lol. And there was a guy who would spam threads defending this game as the magnum opus of some dude (who ended up leaving in shame because the game was pure shit lol)
>>
>>737683959
I guarantee you'll only find quotes from Paradox along those lines.
>>
>>737676649

Good. The Sabbat are too interesting to be just mooks to be slaughtered. And I like playing as the edgelord faction.
>>
Took 12 hours to complete, with a concerning about of walking around as fabian, close to zero replayability. 20 bucks is the top amount it's worth.
>>
>>737681593
The game's lead writer explained that the game's dialogue system is like that instead of Bloodlines 1 because "that is not the direction we were given". Paradox are responsible for many of the controversial design choices in VTMB2.
>>
>>737684539
They're adding Fabien fast travel in the new patch.
>>
>>737682121
>it was looking really good
Let's be real, man. No, it wasn't. The cancelled version had great ideas (which they're now trying to jam back into the game) but it looked like a broken, un-fun mess.
>>
>>737683838
The vibe I get is that they somehow managed to convince Paradox to give them money to make two story DLCs. And they've then taken these DLCs and used them as excuses to redesign the game's combat, ostensibly for the DLC, but coincidentally also for the main game. So what was a normal post-release patching period of a game that financially failed has been boosted with an influx of cash. The story DLCs are primarily made out of recycled locations, assets, and just the cutscenes and voice acting is new.
>>
>>737684957
So it's 6 hours long. They made a mistake that you could pick abilities from all clans

A bunch of 2's problems stem from inconsistent and pointless lore fidelity. The blood resonance stuff is just stupid.
