What was the last AC you enjoyed ?
>>7376820062, it was pretty greatI may get Brotherhood during a sale or just pirate it
AC Odyssey I got bored of Valhalla half way through. Forced feminization of masculinity killed the series. Shadows was just shot the series in the back of the head. Women and niggers ruining everything as per usual
>>7376820064
>>737682006Origins, but it was heavily flawed and then I saw that the next game doubled down on all the flaws in Origins instead of improving the systems so I haven't played any new AC game since 2017.I've gone back to 1 and 2 though, and I'm going to do Brotherhood and Rev eventually, maybe even 3 and 4.
II
I hate to admit it, but Shadows wasn't as fun as I wanted it to be. It was comfy, but the world felt...small. The story felt shorter as well. I also at times didn't feel like it was an AC game. I'm a huge weeb so...you know Japan and shit. I guess I like bloated 150+ hour games. Odyssey was massive, but it was fun how large the world was. Being able to sail across the ocean to new islands and lands, and discovering all the new things/sites, hunting down like 50 cult members, looking for clues, etc. Shadows just had you hunt down like 8 people. I think they wanted to go in the "shorter game" direction because people complained about the bloat and games being too long with too much boring stuff to do. I find that ironic considering how popular Odyssey is. Odyssey is very popular, and it's the largest AC game.
4 was the last one I played. I loved Brotherhood. I tolerated Revelations to see the end of Ezio. Skipped 3.Is Unity any better now after all this time?
>>737682006Black Flag
>>737682006The first one when I replayed it.Tried replaying AC2 half-a year later but I already feared I would be disappointed and I was right, never even got out of the first city. It has not aged well at all especially if you compare it directly with the first one.I'm mainly talking about the ridiculous amount of railroading/handholding in AC2.
>>737682006when i really think about it 2 or maybe brotherhood really, shit... maybe i think my enjoyment might have even stopped mid brotherhood maybe without me even truly realizing until later on. Kept playing the games, just going through the motions up until black flag but skipped rogue. I know black flag is considered the best but by the time it got there it never really clicked with me at that point, i was too burned out with AC, the style of game, the writing etc. etc.
>>737682006Revelations I think? The one with Old Ezio. I stopped playing them after that since 3 didn't appeal to me. I should give Black Flag a try sometime.
>>737682006Fires of Rubicon.
>>737682964>I'm mainly talking about the ridiculous amount of railroading/handholding in AC2.AC1 is far worse with that tho. With the endless amount of forced-slow walking, unskippable cutscenes, those pseudo-cutscenes where you're just walking around that you also can't skip, etc. It's AC1 that has not aged well, especially compared to AC2
>>737682006odyssey, because it was ass creed in name only
>>737682006III
Black Flag.I've played most of the games since, but everything after Rogue has been disposable popcorn slop. And binging on popcorn can be good, it's hardly satisfying in the end.
Black FlagDidn't play any of the ones after that until I tried the Greek one, it was shit
>>737682006MirageIt was nice to have a stealth oriented game that is also only a couple dozen hours long
>>737682006Mirage was quite good and is maybe the best AC from a pure gameplay point of view. I loved the gadgets. The general idea behind the story is very good but was badly executing and is suffering from Ubisofts formulaic design structure (unique intro -> canned, repeating story and gameplay structure -> unique end)
>>737687110>story ruined by the fact you can do it in any order so they can never refer back to things that previously happenedMany such cases with Ubisoft
>>737682006Post II? Chronicles.
>>737684132AC1 goes for something unique, even with its rough edges and it’s one of the only ACs that you can play HUDless without running into issues.2 is hurt by being the first “Ubisoft formula” game, which makes it feel dated.
>>737687298>2 being the first “Ubisoft formula” gamewatAC1 had like 500 collectibles, 100 Ubisoft towers, and every main mission is you doing copypasted side activities until you're allowed to do the assassination
>>737687179Couldn’t they just have alternate dialogue if you do things out of order? Games have been doing this for decades, and AC1 also has alternate dialogue at points depending on what order you kill the targets in.
>>737687367None of which were necessary to beat the game aside from the side missions, and you only had to do 2 or 3 of them before doing the assassination. IIRC, the director actually said he included the flags as a joke and never actually intended for people to collect them all.
>>737682006Origins. It's also the last mainline AC I played.I hate Syndicate so much it's fucking unreal.
>>737687475>None of which were necessary to beat the game??? The collectibles in 2 weren't necessary to beat the game eitherYou said 2 was the first Ubisoft formula game and you were plainly wrong
valhalla is a great game beginning to end. thinking of replaying it or origins while waiting for black flag
>>737682006Revelations was surprisingly good
What was the one where Desmond sacrifices himself to save humanity from a sun flare predicted by the Mayan calendar?
>>737687662>valhalla is a great game beginning to endnorway was comfy, england suckedand the story dragged out forever
>>737682006Odyssey.
>>737687915They stole the game structure from Expeditions: Viking?
1 for being the OG2 for the aesthetics and atmosphereBrotherhood for being kinoBlack flag for the shanties
>>737688052Forgot Origins for the pyramids
>>737687915didn't ask
>>737682006rogue, I tried suffering through unity and syndicate but they are just boring. if the plot sucks I have no reason to suffer through an ass creed game
>>737682006Currently playing Shadows, it's fun.>muh black samuraiYes, terrorizing Japan as a giant negro is quite fun
>>737682006AC6
>>737682006Unity was the last game in the franchise that could be considered good. Assassin's Creed died a death by a thousand cuts. Its first death was midway through Brotherhood when Patrice Désilets fucked off. Its second death was when they killed Desmond. It kept going like a chicken without a head until Unity/Syndicate then it turned into the corpse it's been since then. The franchise refused to iterate on itself post-Revelations, mechanics animations and other shit was created for one game then dropped for the next so the natural refinement that happened in IPs like Hitman or Yakuza (up to 5, until the latter too was Flanderized post 0) is nowhere to be seen until reaching Valhalla where you had the worst parkour and stealth in the franchise with the second worst looking combat after Odyssey, then Mirage which nobody remembers exists and the least I say about Yasuke's game the best. The setting was changed from historical fiction to historical fantasy with no regards for internal consistency at the same time as they're milking your nostalgia for Ezio's Family for the nth time. It's a franchise with mechanics that never again will let you experiment and a narrative that never again will touch you or make you think. It became literal capeshit with a millennia old Eagle Bearer that can survive jumping off mountains or a Sage Eivor that finds seven Pieces of Eden every time she looks under a rock. It's the videogame equivalent of fast food. It's dead, Jim.t. grew up with the franchise, hold AC1 as the best game in the franchise and in my top 10 games of all time
>>737682006I liked Valhalla, but otherwise Unity. 1-4 are the best ones and the series has no legs to stand on anymore.
>>737682006Brotherhood.Love 4 as well but that's more a pirate game than an asscreed game.
>>737682006I didn't enjoy a single one.I only tried to play AC1 and 3 when they came out, they were both shit.
>>7376820062, 3, and Black Flag are where the series peaked and died. I can't stand the ones that are wannabe RPG's.
>origins was an interesting reboot of the franchise>but the kbnm controls were super weird>odyssey was amazing, like skyrim with colors>but the kbnm controls were super weird>valhalla tried to be hardcore and failed>and the kbnm controls were super weirdwhy do they refuse to improve?
>>737682006It's hard to say, because the franchise kinda bled to death. Syndicate was the last great AC. Origins was alright, but I wasn't big on the RPG shit and the spongy scaling enemies, it was a bloated mess with tons of repetitive and recycled content, but the story and a few of the major quests were fun, plus egypt was cool. Odyssey was a piece of shit. It just tripled on everything bad about Origins, hundreds of worthless gear, every enemy camp being a literal copy-paste, same with every cave and most towns. Enemy ships were rigged to spawn right next to you sailing your way to force you to engage in terrible ship combat, and the story was ass. Valhalla righted some of it (no ARPG style retarded loot, more focused progression and content) and I had fun with it, but so many zones and story arcs were just forgettable as fuck.I think I played Mirage for about an hour before being bored to death, and skipped AC Dindu. Won't be buying AC Witches VS Patriarchy either.
>>737682006Last one I played was the one where you play as the templar. It was fairy fun but I hated getting ambushed every time I run down an alleyway. I did have an inkling to try the Greek game but I wasn't fond of how the gameplay looks in the RPG era games. Do any of them stand out?
>>737689804>origins was an interesting rebootI guess that's one way to refer to a soulless Witcher copycat that had nothing to do with social assassination or city parkour exploration.
>>737690592I'd say they overall get worse with each entry, while the RPG elements get improved, so just a matter of which side you prefer.IMO, overall experience is Origins > Odyssey > Valhalla, but gameplay quality is Valhalla > Origins > Odyssey.
>>737690869Which one of them keeps the most focus on actual assassinations and targets? That's always been the part I enjoy most in Assassins Creed games
>>737690986They all do, but they all also do in a pretty lackluster surface-level way. Since they are action RPG, they mostly boil down to bossfights. Since you mentioned last playing Rogue, if you want good assassinations then go for Unity or Syndicate, they had the best assassinations in the franchise, where you can actually do some planning and even find special alternate ways of killing the target that aren't just walking in and using your superhero abilities to fight a spongy boss.
Surely no one in the history of the entire franchise has ever used the actual mechanics for hiding when you're being pursued, right? Even in AC1 I just killed all the guards with hidden blade counters in combat after assassinating a target
>>737691404I did in AC1 because the chase music was hype. Brotherhood too.
i liked unity though it's mostly because the absurdity of an assassin running around in armor and with a halberd tickled me just right. the dlc axe/mortar is also a fun one
>>737691404In AC1 you had to actually hide and escape after a successful assasination or the game wouldn't proceed tho. Also I personally enjoy toying with the AI by getting seen, hiding in some hay, then waiting for them to search the area and pull them one by one into my bush, then baiting some more to come.
Unity was good. Syndicate was more of the same. Origins / Odyssey weren't bad. Valhalla was the end.
>>737691603>In AC1 you had to actually hide and escapeTo be fair it's been 20 years but I'm pretty sure I simply killed all the guards that went after me, then ran out of the area to go "low profile" or whatever it's called. It was definitely the same system in the later games, I just did the same thing in Black Flag recently
>Revelations and 1 on a discount after the announcement of the remake>Other ASScreeds not on discount
>>737691660After main assassinations, even if you did them fully stealth, there's a forced endless alarm, and enemies won't stop spawning/chasing you. You had to hide in the assassin's bureau after losing them for it to end.
>>737690686Barely had any cities to parkour in because it was all underdeveloped sandnigger villages
>>737682006I enjoyed Odyssey for about 4 hours but then it felt like it was just being the same thing over and over and the areas stopped looking as good as the starting island.
>>7376820063..the last game that had a good soundtrack
>>737682006Mirage
100%ed a bunch of them.>1Was jaw dropping when it came out and it's still a unique eerie experience worth playan. The only "pure" asscreed game. 7/10>2Overrated. Not bad, but started a lot of bad things and is a downgrade from the first one, especially atmosphere wise. 6/10>broImprovement over the previous two in numerous ways in terms of mechanics. Combat got greatly refined. 8/10>revPeak of the franchise, will never get better than this. 1st gen asscreed refined to the max, very satisfying conclusion to Ezio and Altair. Best ost too. 8/10>3New engine with a bunch of mechanical changes but I'd still categorize it as part of the "classics". Does many things wrong, but Connor is not one of them. His story is the best aspect. 6/10.>LiberationUnderrated. Essentially a DLC for 3 but it's better in a lot of ways. The short length is a blessing in this series. Insane this was on the psvita. 7/10.>Black FlagOnly played for 3 hours, can't rank it, probably the same as Rogue.>RogueParkour got ruined by the change to always being in high profile. Everything became more contextual and your character will do retarded shit you didn't want. Ship combat is gay. Good ost. 5/10.>UnityNever played, can't rank.>Syndicate.Absolutely fucked. London is beautiful but it feels horrible to play due to the all the context sensitive shit. Combat, parkour and driving are ass, didn't care for what was happenan in the story. 3/10.>OriginsReally fucking great. Unironic return to form. If it wasn't for the level gating and some enemies surviving a hidden blade assassination, it'd be peak asscreed. Fuck aya though. 8/10.>OdysseyDowngrade from Origins, chose the worst aspects to elaborate upon. Bloat out of the ass. Dropped halfway, and not an asscreed. 5/10.>Valhalla, Mirage, ShadowsDidn't play, can't rank.
>>7376820062.I even tolerated the 3 or 4 "sequels" to 2.But 3? That was the last Ubisoft game I ever bought. It was so horrifically bad I never looked back. If they didnt give a shit why should I.
>>737689605I agree with a lot here.
>>737696162The story isnt a negative of 3 for you?The story where you meet the bad guy and immediately side with him after training your entire life to kill him?The story where your dad meets Benjamin Franklin so you track down his invention pages?Where you never met the founding fathers then suddenly they act like youre friends and have hung out several times. The story was shit. The gameplay was worse.
Rouge i thinkdidn't really care for unity or syndicate and i dropped orgins halfway through and haven't played an ac game sincethink i just got burnt out from the series
>>7376820932 and Brotherhood are the peak of the seriesstarting Brotherhood immediately after finishing 2 is the best way to play them, as one long game (Brotherhood's story starts immediately where 2's left off with Ezio still in Saint Peter's Basilica)fuck now I want to replay them again myself
>>737682006origins, but revelations stuck with me the most because of that endingat that point i realize its time to let this series go, you could tell most of the OG devs that made it great already left ubisoft, this series lacks direction and vision after patrice left
>>737682006Mirage.Excellent return to form, but I have to wonder why the graphics are a step down from Unity and Syndicate a full console generation ago.
>>737683242Good choice
>>737696582>meet the bad guy and immediately side with himHaytham was Connor's father. Of course he tried to reason and connect with him first. But he didn't "side" with him at any point. Their interactions were quite charming too.But maybe only those with a father could relate to those scenes.>dad meets Benjamin Franklin so you track down his invention pagesI don't see how this is relevant or contradictory in any way. Your enemy's acquaintance isn't inherently your enemy in all cases. Connor probably went to the same gun store as his dad too.>never met the founding fathers then suddenly they act like youre friends and have hung out several timesYou're a hero who helped them on many occasions. Might not have met all of them but they still regard you as someone they can deeply trust. And if I remember correctly, Connor wasn't partying hard with them during the declaration of independence but stood leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. All the points you brought up are kinda retarded.
>>737690592>the one where you play as the templar. It was fairy fun but I hated getting ambushed every time I run down an alleyway. That's just a normal job hazard when you're a Templar.
>>737697341He trained his entire life to kill his dad. His dedicated his existence to ending him. Then he meets him, this practical stranger for the first time, and hes just "yeah sure lets team up so you can betray me" with literally no resistance or thought.I never said Ben Franklin would be his enemy but Connor never met the guy so why are you collecting his invention pages some 30 years after he lost them. The points I brought up arent retarded youre just defending garbage. At no point until the finale do you meet or help any of the founding fathers with anything. They just kind of show up and act like you all know each other. If you like having shit pushed into your mouth thats your business but this game pissed me off so much I remember it very well and it was one of the worst games I have ever played. Even your counter poi
>>737697054>after patrice leftShame, a true about that but good things can't last in game dev much less in Ubisoft. They had cool concept for Desmond's journey though:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCaEk1tdBD8 I still hate how they butchered his character in III.
>>737697701Tragic, an assassin merked him midpost.
Brotherhood. Although "enjoy" in this case is "6.5 out of 10", and I'd say it was the same with 1 and 2 as well. I can't really explain it, but back then I didn't see these games as a waste of time. It was something I played while waiting for friends to come online or something I played through when I had a fever (in the case of 2).
>>737682006odysseyIf your want my money ever again ubishit, i want a way more in depth odyssey like game in a pirate world. Infinite replay, an dynamic economy, in depth assassin organization where I recruit assassins. In depth random quest generator, like odyssey, just more depth. HUGE map. Do all this and more and I spend hundreds a year on your game. Also no woke shit
>>737697174Just looking at the dev list on steam compared to shadows implies to me it was a side game>mirage: Ubisoft Bordeaux>shadows: pic related
Ubi should have ditched the whole assassin meme. A historical open world game is interesting enough as it is.
>>737698007not saying the remake will be like that but I hope it will be closer to it, especially if the map is expanded and there are no loadings. sailing around and sometimes killing people was fun in odyssey
>>737682006I had the Revelations/AC1 combo disc on PS3 during college. Good times.
>>737682006The J2ME ones
>>737698739I had the same one. I played Revelations then went back to the first one. It was a good deal and playing through the original Assassin's Creed made me appreciate the Revelations plot more.
>>737698150It openly was a side game, short as opposed to 100+ hours like the nu RPG games, and a return to form.Doesn't mean nice graphics and the ability to show huge crowds became lost technology. Or why most characters are rather unattractive, even the ones who according to narrative should be beautiful.I loved the game the graphics were disappointing.
>>737682006UnityFucking loved the parkour, and the customization Also the combat was a bit challenging, if you tried to fight 5 guards you'd get raped
>>737682006Unity.Syndicate was fun but the combat really sucked and the story, I don't even remember what it was about.Played Origins, the protagonist was cool but the rpg nucreeds are really not for me.Also played Mirage, fun for a bit but it's crazy how much the storytelling has taken a nosedive compared to before.Haven't played the other newer ones.
>>737699202>>737699327The one big problem with Unity is that every faction is the same color and you can't tell them apart until they open their mouths. For a game with such great graphics, they couldn't figure out how to do basic palette swaps?
>>737697804Lmaoo>>737697701Connor has seen Haytham multiple times before the sequence where they cooperate for like, 3 missions. It's hinted that Haytham even saves him from being hanged one sequence prior. And let's not forget he had the jump on Connor. Could have killed his son then and there in the empty church but he decided to tell him his own viewpoint and maybe convince him. I stay by my opinion that both characters had a very human reaction to that situation and a bunch of people who played the game think the same. You're the minority here.>why are you collecting his invention pages some 30 years after he lost themIt's an asscreed game bro. Collectibles out of the ass in all games. You just happen to find the pages in the open, they have Ben's name on em, so you take them to him and he invents some cool shit for your manor. So what exactly? Still not seeing your point. Why are we collecting feathers with Ezio 30 years after Petruccio died?>At no point until the finale do you meet or help any of the founding fathers with anythingNow you're trolling because the declaration happens at around two thirds into the game. You've literally done missions with 2 of 3 niggas who are present in the bootleg version of the declaration shown in the game, so they do in fact know you.
>>737682006Brotherhood.Maybe Revelations.Anything at III and beyond is irrelevant.
>>737699503Pretty sure the cops are blue and the revolutionary were red. Was pretty straightforward
>>737682131Shadows could've been unironically good if Yasku hadn't been shoehorned in
>>737699582Story-wise yes
>>737682006Brotherhood
>>737699627The Revolutionaries wore red.Their enemies, the Counter-Revolutionaries, also wore red.Even the Austrian soldiers you fight in some of the co-op missions wore red. How hard would it have been to give them green uniforms instead?
1, 2BR, 4You don't have to play anything else unless you want a virtual ancient country tour program
