>>737685962It hasn't run out of ideas. It's the fault of the players who don't want new ideas. If a game deviates from establishes standards even a little they'll bitch about it so as a result everything becomes more homogeneous.

>>737685962Industries don't have ideas, they churn out existing formulas. People have ideas, which is why there are plenty of indie games with unique mechanics and premises still. Whether those end up being good or not is a separate matter. But you'll never find fresh ideas from corporations because they are all about maximizing profit for executives and shareholders.
