>>737691442It's more engaging if you want an action game and somehow ended up playing Final Fantasy games. Combat is hurt right away because you have about 12 moves available in a fight, and that includes blocking and dodging. It fails as an action game because there just isn't much you can do, and you'll probably want to have a combo and some sort of defensive option on every costume. It works a bit more as an RPG because you're opening up a menu and equipping things that you think will help in upcoming fights. It's not an amazing action game, though, because even intentionally having the biggest variety of moves available doesn't leave you with many. I'll also say that the basic movement is shockingly weak. There's no jump button or anything, and she walks so slow you'll never get out of the way of an attack or run up to an enemy with it.
I'm not too big of a fan of Lightning. She acts like a stuck up bitch in everything (eh I guess she lightens up at the end of XIII). I don't know why they reverted back in XIII-2 and LR she's still a bitch but has the hints of not being a bitch which is great. I actually do really like XIII but the one major flaw the game had is that they got the pairings all wrong.
