Too busy with GachaVideo games as standalone corporate or hobby projects are a cultural phenomena. And the phone craze in the late 2000s is still hostile to making good products. The same is true in the west, but once you got the larger small size companies established, its harder to make them go away for a live service model.

This is a sort of middle finger to disc burning because actually paying for shit in the game involves sending money over the internet to the publisher, but it also means the game is designed to try and get you to buy into its only source of revenue. Over and over in Chinese games, I'll think that this would've been good if there was no gacha shit.
