Play it
it's $2

>shitty AI moeblob as in game artwork
come on man
>>
I did, I hated it
I still want to try Crymachina though
>>
Genuine question, is this your first game you play that looks like this or you play all the slop that looks like this?
Because I cannot fathom an adult playing more than one game in this slopfest of a genre, I understand getting fooled once, but more than that, what's your problem?

what's wrong with action RPGs?
>>
It's on my todo list. I haven't seen anything that makes me want it right this second, though. A lot of people have said they didn't actually like playing it.

sad

how yuri is it?
^ i, a grown man, typed this ^

Maybe he just likes action RPGs. Some women love scented candles enough they'll keep buying new ones because that always makes them happy. I can't relate, but it makes sense to want to do something you like doing.
>>

God I miss the Dall-E 1 days of shitpost generating.

Sell me on it for reasons besides "It's $2".

Been meaning to play it for a while. Story and aesthetics seem interesting enough even if the actual gameplay is boring and tedious.
>>
I loved the characters and art direction, and I'm fond of action RPGs but this game takes patience to insane extremes. Like "running down nondescript hallways fighting the same 5 enemies with a rudimentary combat system for 40+ hours" insane. I got the platinum trophy on it but damn, you better be into its good points. I'd say it's worth trying for $2 but know what you're getting into. Nanana best girl.

>>737698029
Crymachina's a way tighter game overall, though I personally liked the setting a lot less. One weird thing Crystar did better is hit feedback, but aside from that it's a more enjoyable action RPG.

>>737698772
None, it's not a romantic game by any means.
>>
This game is great for the people who enjoy the gameplay of Drakengard (aka no one)
>>
>>737699047
i'm not gonna pretend that their are other appealing features of crystar beyond riuichi's artstyle
but for $2, i'd recommend it for anime slop fans

>CRYMELIGHT is a roguelike action game set in the world of the afterlife, where girls confront their sins as they fight to gain their freedom. Release date: Nov 4, 2026
if not for this fucking post I wouldn't have known

and yet when fate, ikkkitousen, senran, persona and neptunia do it they are praised. make it make sense

>One weird thing Crystar did better is hit feedback
its "weapon feel" and being one with the blade. god eater does a similar thing
>>737699840
>This game is great for the people who enjoy the gameplay of Drakengard (aka no one)
drakengard doesn't have the same skyboxes, optimization, writing, atmosphere and music but this game is about what you'd expect for a unity game

I think it's on sale for like $40 right now. It's a better game in a technical sense and it's quite unambiguously yuri on top of that. Still, $40's kinda steep for what you get.
>>
>>737698772
Not very, though MC's sister is giga yandere for her.
>>
>>737698772
Crystar isn't yuri.
Crymachina is explicitly yuri, none of that wishy-washy stuff.

>threw all the previous voice actors to the wind despite breathing life into their characters
What are you talking about? I haven't checked all the VAs but Alice for example is being voiced by the same VA as Mirai from Crystar.
>>
>>737701521
I saw this on indie live expo and wrote it off almost immediately because >roguelike, didn't realize it was the cry* team in furyu. I'm still not sold honestly.
>>
>>737712843
Ideally I would've liked them to continue polishing their 3D action combat but considering the results so far I'm not really torn up on the direction they're taking with Crymelight, it might even be more fun to play.

I won't because I'm not a tranny

I'm not crazy about these roguelike pivots personally. First it's Hell Maiden after Pocket Mirror/Little Goody Two Shoes, now it's Crymelight after Crystar/Crymachina.

>I don't have time to play with Thelema
>>
i do think they should focus on making the gameplay more engaging in these games
i do not think roguelite elements is the answer
>>
>>737716205
Roguelite elements are never the answer, even if you want to make gameplay more engaging
I'm fucking sick of roguelites, they're just an excuse to not do any sort of proper level design
>>
>>737716205
Crymachina still needed work but it was a noticeable step forward. The action mechanics were much smoother and the stages featured a lot less dead air. I'm looking at Crymelight and I'm wondering if Crymachina didn't perform well enough for a sequel to grow, or even maintain the development budget.

It's what the people crave. Yunyun Syndrome was finally recently released and the dev announced a new, guess what, card based roguelike russian roulette game! If you don't have this in shit your games what are you even doing?
>>
>>737716632
Saw that too. Game looks cute but fucking hell. Waiting for the whole translation thing to sort itself out with Yunyun though.

>>737716546
Crymachina was also way too short in my opinion.
>>737716609
I implied nothing of the sort. That's the weakest aspect of both. But discarding level design entirely for being roguelite is not a improvement.
>>
>>737697949
No
It fucking sucks
>>
>>737716805
Crymachina's length may be in response to Crystar's insane padding. Sure, it's a "longer" game but did it really need to be given how they accomplished it? As for discarding level design, I fundamentally despise how roguelikes handle progression but if they aren't going to improve the level design then maybe they see it as cutting out a middleman.
>>
>>737697949
I got it when it released on PS4 and finished it.
I barely remember anything about it other than Nanana being the best girl.
I’m not sure why it’s $2 and saw the studio account thank a guy I follow on Twitter for advertising the promotion so I’m guessing they aren’t doing well at all? Anyway I’ll buy it alongside the DLC costumes to support them. Total is like $7.
>>
>>737717156
It's discounted because they just announced the third game in the series.
>>
>>737717140
It's definitely in response to Crystar's insane padding, but I think they went too far still. At very least I can say Crymachina didn't waste my time, I suppose.
>>
>>737717140
>>737717253
They said Crymelight is supposed to be 20 to 30 hours so it should be in the middle between the previous games.
>>
>>737717291
The "roguelite" designation removes any ability to predict that accurately. Never trust devs who tell you a roguelite takes 30 hours to beat.
