kino but his skin should've been white
>>
Accidentally made a good game despite its dev team
>>
>>737700116
Great game but there won't be any good sequels. Think of it like dragon age origins
>>
>>737700116
Kino for 1 playthrough. 0 replayability. Absolute Zero is worse in every way.
>>
>>737700116
First time I booted it up I was too afraid of the open water to play more than 5 minutes. Came back to it later and had a good time getting over that fear.
But now, knowing that the seaglide makes you faster than every threat, it's not nearly as fun as that first playthrough.

10/10 that first time though. The tension from not knowing anything was great combined with all the preparing for a big expedition into somewhere new.
>>
It was a fun video-game
>>
overrated as fuck. very shallow (heh) everything, but since there's nothing to compare it to every retard thinks it's great
how is stranded deep these days?
>>
good but i hope subnautica 2 has like 4 times as much flora and fauna. also the sea and all its creatures feel so static. a reaper is just a guard tower really and there are no water currents. even just seeing your lifepod drift over the course of the game would have been so cool but the water is just in stasis.
>>
>>737700213
He’s a janitor, that would have been impossible.

streamer bait and very shallow but as a debut game it gets a pass. perfect world games took ownership before krafton and discarded it when they saw subnautica 2 and then used what they learnt to make innars in tower of fantasy which was shallow due to mobile constraints but make tropical islands and unreal engine water waves. neither were as good as when aqua road was introduced in maplestory.

>>737700116
pretty good game, dunno why /v/ feels like shitting on it now
>>
>>737700116
One of the only survival games I was ever able to really get into. I liked it a lot. Fun to explore, very atmospheric, and it had a good sense of progression. I actually enjoyed building my base in this unlike most other games in this genre.
>>
>>737700116
Great game. Shame Below Zero wasn't very good and I don't expect much from 2, especially after all that.
>>
>>737700265
This. Everything that came after the original proves it being good was purely a mistake. That being said I love the original, the soundtrack was what made it. Of course they got rid of the composer though because "muh racisms!"
>>
>>737700116
I hated the inventory.
It made me quit the game
>>
Great game, nailed most of the things a survival game usually fucks up. Few bits where it could be better/clearer but what isn't.
I've never made it past like 2 hours in Below Zero because it's so fucking SHIT.
>>
The only openworldsurvivalcraft games I have ever genuinely enjoyed
The presentation is immaculate and almost everything about the game (as overused as this word is) is immersive.
But this was entirely on accident as the sequel proved that they couldn't do it twice.
I don't have high hopes for 3. They'll probably flub it hard.
>>
>>737700213
It's from generations of corporate racemixing that rendered the entire human race brown. The future and Alterra are not portrayed favorably. Game is overall pretty good and worth trying.

This
Underwater alien planet full of big fish is a really good place to put a game, but fags are too afraid that people with mUH tHAsSaPhOBiA will cry about it.
I think the ocean is really fucking cool and alien and being afraid of an impossibly deep sea full of monsters is fun.
>>
>>737700116
kino, but I have no hope for the upcoming game to be good
>>
too much of the game has you wasting time finding food and water while also trying to find parts for new unlocks. ended up just feeling like a total pain in the ass

Nothing but clickbait everytime I look it up.

Did they do anything with that frozen leviathan or the extremely large one or is that all mod only?
>>
>>737703264
The game should lean more into its Thassaphobia aspects. If people are terrified for real, then you know you're doing it right.
>>
>>737700116
I started looking at some playthrough to see if I liked and was immediately turned off by audio logs of some mary sue black woman. I hate games with retarded audio logs.
>>
thinking of checking this game out now that a lot of people ITT seem to like it
how long will it take me to finish it?
>>
>>737700116
Really, really good, with potential to have been absolutely incredible, but I think the development team was just barely lacking in experience/skill/budget/time/something.

>>737700518
>First time I booted it up I was too afraid of the open water to play more than 5 minutes.
One of the first things I did was see how far I could swim, assuming there were invisible walls. My heart rate after the resulting ghost leviathan attack could have been considered a cardio workout holy shit. I think that was my scariest videogame experience since Dead Space.
>>
>>737703713
It's hard to gauge because of the survival crafting and exploration, but the actual story is maybe an hour long strictly going from place to place.
>>
>>737703713
First playthrough for me was like 25 hours.
>>
>>737703713
Depends on what you do really. You can spend as much time as you want with the base building aspect once you've located all of the parts, which generally require more and more advanced tech to reach their "blueprints". There is a final quest you can do to actually finish the game, but it's more kind of an optional thing after completing the main quests objective. It is a pretty cool game, with a good soundtrack.

Is there any way to play this with a white character?

I can't fucking stand seeing the nigger hands especially in VR it's infuriating
>>
>>737700116
Fun game. Below Zero is scarier but the PDA and story in base subnautica is better.
>>
>>737703374
>too much of the game has you wasting time finding food and water
There's a pop up with the option to turn the piss/shit meters off when you start a new game iirc
>>737703713
About 60 hours according to my playtime but that was 1 complete playthrough and fucking around in another. Launching the Prawn suit from the Cyclops to drill a giant ore or a giant fish needs to be experienced.
>>737704016
There's probably a mod but I forgot about it after getting gloves.

Sorry but like a lot of people these days I have black fatigue

It's at the point where I drop a game and move on if I see a black but Subnatica has fun enough gameplay I'd be willing to try and mod it to fix the issue

Survival crafting games are incredibly boring. Its just busy work in a "comfy" environment.
Collect stuff to craft stuff to collect more stuff faster so you can craft stuff to collect stuff
Games for people who don't wanna think or try and just do stuff for fifty hours.
I think I'll like them because the environment seems cool but the stuff I do in them is always incredibly boring.
What if kill thirty rats was the entire game.

I replay it at least once a year, as well as the sequel. The sequel does have some parts that are less enjoyable and some people don’t like the fact that there is more talking in it, but I think it’s still a good game.

Full disclaimer: I like girls with dicks.

played with a vr headset and custom mapped joystick its one of the best VR games and a one of a kind game and genre defining whatever that genre is. its a unique game that is terrifying and fun unlike any other you will ever play.

It really needed an overview map.
>>
>>737700116

Boring and overrated.
>>
>>737710405
Strong disagree. I wrote down important locations by their triangulated distances from other markers until I found enough copper to readily make my own beacons. Didn't look up any maps until after I beat the game, and I made it through just fine.

>>
>>737700116

>Make sure I have all the upgrades and energy generation I need
>Double check everything
>Slowly make my way down
>Nearly got caught by the Leviathan
>Emergency repair in the Lava Zone
>Finally make it
It was one of the best gaming experiences ever, words don't make it justice.

devs made a good game despite some idiotic choices and in sequels focus on idiotic choices instead of a good part of the game.
basically they do not even understand why their game was good.
>>
>>737710405
Half the fun is figuring things out while not having a map.
>>
The game is fun enough and I like the el diablo meme
>>
>>737710405
It really didn't, and still doesn't.
>>
>>737700116
Cherish the illusions of danger, exploration, and grandeour, because once they shatter, the game loses not just its replayability, but all of its joy. Unfortunately, it usually happens before the end of the first playthrough.
>>
>>737700116
Same old song and dance you've heard before
Great game, good sound design, BZ fucking sucked
I'll add something not said as much and that is I preferred the EA builds when the game did not give you handholding. In the release build, the radio in your escape pod gives you perfect directions to every crashed pod so you just follow the waypoints, originally you had to make notes of which biomes were where when you explored and venture into the great unknown with little direction beyond "somewhere east of the aurora, maybe, and deep in a ravine"
>>
>>737700116
Made it through blind without dying a single time
I expected more.
>>
>>737718742
I mostly beat the game without dying except when I fell through the floor in an alien research facility and died, when I fell through the floor and died in a teleport cave system, and when a sea emperor dragon clipped through two unloaded walls and oneshot me as I was going down to the final zone.
10/10 very well made game
>>
>>737700116
Very good early game, which drops in quality halfway.
Its still a solid game, but the moment you realize the know-hows it just becomes a dull farming simulator, and the previous threats will be nuisances. Its clear that the focus was on early game, and the whole thing is a very lightning in a bottle deal. Below Zero outed these people pretty hard how much of a hacks they are. Funnily enough the shitlib devs fired the only "right wing" person on the team whose talent hardcarried the game. This made sure Below Zero ended up comically liberal, as below zero contains every single modern video game sin imaginable.
Its literally Focus M type of deal cranked up to 11, you get sassy black women, constant yapping, soiens, ebil wytpipo, corpo bad, padding, god awful land segments, boring visuals, illogical enemy placements, horrid vehicles. Everything.
>>
>>737703006
I still think it's weird how no other game has made the presentation as good as Subnautica for an underwater survival game. The rest of the game isn't even that amazing: It's buggy, dealing with hostile fauna is annoying because of mass shooting autism, there's zero gameplay depth aside from learning how to maneuver the Cyclops and knowing what resources should you pick up and where they are, and the story is nothing but forgettable In fact trying to craft a story people gave a shit about was BZ biggest mistake in my opinion.

Vehicles are mandatory unless you want to do autistic speedrunner strats of building a pipe every 30 seconds to refill oxygen.
The cyclops is mandatory to build solely so you can get the rocket shield schematic. I don't know if the Prawn is technically necessary, or if you can can find enough loose kyanite (and other mats?) to finish the tech tree without using its mining arms.
>>
>>737720689
>Vehicles are mandatory
wrong
>building a pipe
lol lmao
>The cyclops is mandatory to build solely so you can get the rocket shield schematic
true, but you're never forced to use the cyclops. I never used it in my first playthrough. I've done playthroughs where I speedran building it and was able to build it before the Aurora exploded.
> I don't know if the Prawn is technically necessary
It isn't. You even can do the entire inactive lava zone without even getting the heat suit, you just need to stock up on plenty of first aid kits. With an extra air tank, you only need 1 air base in between the tree and the power plant. I'd say the worst part of a no vehicle run is probably the very beginning of the game where you only have shitty air tanks and no swim charge fin + seaglide.
>find enough loose kyanite
You hardly need any if you aren't building vehicles and upgrade modules.
