Why are there so few ORIGINAL superhero games made specifically for video games? I understand why adapting the big characters makes sense financially but why doesn't anyone try making on entirely new ones?

That was basically a Kamen Rider game and came out when it was pretty popular to make a game based on a Japanese superhero TV show. Those didn't sell well, so even someone who wants to make one usually ends up making something more popular.
