>he still uses mechanical keyboard for gaming
Why haven't you switched over to hall effect or optical, /v/?

isn't that a stick thing doe

Where’s the TMR keys?

My $5 membrane keyboard is good enough
>>
>>737713697
I can hit my keys and get feedback just fine. Do you buy a new keyboard whenever they announce some meme tech?

Because hitting reload a few ms earlier is not really relevant to winning games and linear switches feel disgusting.

I already have 2 custom mechanical keyboards with hotswappable switches
I don't need another keyboard

>tfw fell into the "thock" youtube rabbithole and ended up building an entire custom keyboard and doing all the bullshit like individually lubbings expensive switches, lining the case with tape etc
It's gathering dust in a cupboard while I use a default wooting now. Don't do it anons
>>
>>737713697
I still use a membrane, full size keyboard because I am not a gay faggot tranny.

this. every /v/ thread about technology is literally just a race to the bottom

Yes, it's called a key, retard.

kek I didn't fall that hard
I got pre-lubed switches (Gateron Pro Yellow) for the linear ones and keyboard kits that came with all the foam and dampening as a package (QK65 & Lucky65 V2)
All I needed to do was stick the switches in them
>>
>>737715735
a mechanical keyboard is around $30 in aliexpress, if you think $30 is CONSOOOOOMING for something you spend a great deal of time daily, you must be quite literally indian, not just metaphorical or spiritually
>>
Got a hybrid, some 7 or 8 years now, I think the longest surviving kb I've ever had, and it's really nice to use, when I have to use one at work or anything else, it feels like driving a car with no steer assist.

Oh but I have. I have a Wooting 80HE with a GT80 chassis from KBDFans and a killmat replacing the stock foam. Swapped the Lekkar switches for Geon RAW HE 60s. It is pure sex.

Keyboard faggotry is homosex of pc building.
>>
>>737716909
we're not talking about mechanical in this thread. we're talking optical/hall.
drop us some high quality/well regarded hall/optical keyboards for 'around $30' on ali.
>>
>>737714464
This is a cool development but it will probably take another decade for anyone to support it
>>
>>737717027
Ultimately peripherals are up to personal taste always, people may argue stats or technicalities, but what feels the best to use is the most important, since it's something you'll be using for hundreds of hours, at least.
>>
>>737717046
>we're not talking about mechanical in this thread.
yes we were, there's mechanical in the op image, and in his comment, the one thing we weren't talking about is membrane, and yet here we are, talking about it now cause it was brought up. so you can just admit there's absolutely no reason for subjecting yourself to poor conditions when ali sells mec keyboards that are much better than membrane or keep moving the goalpost
>>
>>737714081
I finally broke my rubber dome keyboard I bought from best buy 20 years ago trying to some pry keys off and now I can't find a similar model to replace it. I liked this one because it had volume keys on the side and somehow the keys felt less mushy than other membrane keyboards.

How does the key move back up on the other two if theres no spring?
>>
>>737713697
I like the way my kailh box burnt oranges feel. Isn't that enough? Who fucking plays comp shooters these days, shits for faggots and trannies.
>>
>>737718221
there is a spring in hall effect keyswitches as well
>>
>>737713697
>hall effect
LMAO what is it? 2020? Fuck outta here with that grandpa tech. Take the TMR pill.
>>
>>737713697
I just don't see a point in using anything more than a normal $15 keyboard. They're more durable than expensive keyboards, they last for years, and they get the job done. Spill your drink on it by accident? No problem, just take it out to the sink and shake it out. 90% odds that it'll still work like new.
>You can push more buttons at once!
This has literally never been an issue for me. If you're playing a game that requires you to give 5+ inputs simultaneously, a gamepad is always superior, anyways.

It's not like a mouse where a lack of accuracy can be a problem.
>>
>>737717024
ew... no num pad.

Don't care like Click Klack noise
>>
>>737719947
It is my gaming desk. My workdesk has a fullsize keyboard. Numpads are for work and ARMA. I have a detached numpad for ARMA and it goes on the left where it belongs.

I bought the retron mechanical keyboard because it's cheapest/only mechanical keyboard I could find that doesn't have baby nightlights on it. It's okay.
>>
>>737713697
Optical anything is clearly superior to even hall effect or tmr shit.
Magnetic fields can still be fucked with and fail, whereas the optical lights and sensors have such a ridiculously long lifespan you wouldn't see an ounce of wear in decades

I did a bit of research when I was getting my keyboard. Saw all the custom building and group buying nonsense. Just went with a nice Keychron one.
>>
>>737714464
This is redundant when there is like a bazillion different different mechanical switches. Also who the fuck would want their switches to be super sensitive?
