Back before it was ruined, I was of the opinion that Vermintide 2 is the peak of first person melee combat. Why it its stuck in a horde shooter made by retards is beyond me though, shit would rock ass in a proper game.

>>737716554its not even just about the combat itself. I like the pacing and class design of vermintide and think rpgs should learn from it. Vermintide missions is how I imagine MMO dungeon runs should be. Sprinkle some rpg aspects like off combat utility skills, resource gathering and consumable prepping and you have the perfect fantasy game

There is value in a more restricted form of the class customization and active abilities they added in 2 but they went overboard and bloated the fuck out of the game on top of going backwards on many things they got working great in the first game.Best example of that is how they broke the slot system that limited the number of rats that could attack you at once if you held your ground, thus miring the game in a hyperstacking shitfest and compensating for it by giving players the ability to constantly knock shit away so it can't hit them but then having to again limit the players so that they cant do that too much. Just fucking dogshit design.>>737716621There is absolutely still room for a cleverly designed MMO. People like coop games that are effectively the MMO instanced dungeon spam experience. People like games that throw them together with 100 random people. The part that is actually kind of lost is having a chatroom experience while playing.
