This shit makes zero sense. It makes you assume that you're supposed to press back and left (diagonal left) and then forward, but in reality the game just expects you to press forward and then a normal hadouken input. The worst part is that fightingtards will defend this. I bet if Z inputs were represented differently the player base of fighting games would be like 50% higher than it is today.
>>737717945I don't play fighting games but why would a game deliberately lie to you about the directions of inputs? To separate the boys from the men?
>>737717945there's like, 3 different ways you can input thismaybe it's hard if your brain is smooth
>>737718059It's not deliberate, it's just bad design. The Z-input is meant to be interpreted as the motion your fingers would do, and once you have been playing fighting games for years it does become intuitive. But every other input is symbolized differently. So new players assume the Z-input is supposed to be interpreted the same as every other input (as you would expect from a coherent and well-designed game), and they get frustrated because the input does not work.
>>737718243wait Z is just 626? holy shit if they just showed the notation it would be way easier why do they insist on that Z stuff
>>737717945> It makes you assume that you're supposed to press back and left (diagonal left) and then forwardWhat? Are you retarded?
>>737718406I messed that description up but I meant to say that the intuitive inputs you would infer from the Z-input's symbol is 616, not 623>>737718341623, or 6236 if you want to be redundant. It's just a tradition at this point and I'm sure they are well aware that it kills the game for newbies>>737718207And how are you supposed to know the 3 ways to input this without looking it up in external resources?
>>737718480By trying the input a few times? What the fuck are you saying?
>>737718936Are you disingenuous or such an old boomer that you don't realize the drama around Z-inputs? Most people that try games like Strive quit because they can't do inputs, namely the Z-input, despite trying for hours. Other people will assume it is a 6236 input, not realizing you can also do it with 623.
i'm convinced the discourse over the Z input is fabricated, i've never seen a newcomer have any issues comprehending itexecuting an unfamiliar input in the middle of gameplay is a different story but anyone with any real interest will stick with it anyways
>>737719092I dont need to be privy to some stupid xitter "drama", I have friends I've tried to get into fighting games and theyd only play dbfz because its exclusively quarter circle inputs. Babies like them try doing a dp input exactly three times before screeching about how its too hard. If you actually cared to learn to play the game, they aren't that hard to get better at and they aren't as unintuitive as you're implying
