Is this supposed to take 300 hours to finish? I'm 30 hours in and only done one main quest
>>
>>737719792
whats stopping you from doing another?
>>
>>737720697
I'm too engrossed doing shitty side quests that take me 3 hours since i suck at geography
>>
It takes as long as you want it to. That's how Bethesda games are.
>>
>>737721115
thats fine too. most of the time i start a new character i never do the mq outside of dropping off the package and getting my allowance. dont feel like you need to do everything.
>>
It takes exponentially less time to progress through the game the longer you play, because unless you're deliberately fucking up how you level your character you're eventually going to grossly outclass most enemies. Especially if you dabble in Alchemy or Enchanting at all.
>>
>>737721321
But it's legit taking me 3 hours irl time to find laoctions on the mind. Feel like i'm going to max level before i done anything important

>>737721398
I still don't get alchemy
>>
Yeah that's normal, it does speed up as you get more powerful but it's just a lot of stuff
>>
>>737721115
Lol I didn't know there was a world map when I first played this(not that it helps that much)
>>
>>737721462
Eat everything you come across to figure out effects
Cram at least two ingredients with the same effect into a mortar and pestle
make potion (if you suck, might fail)
Keep making potion until you don't suck
make potions that increase intelligence
use potion to boost intelligence, make more
repeat until god
>>
>>737721462
>But it's legit taking me 3 hours irl time to find laoctions
you dont realize how jealous youre making morrowind fans by saying that.

>>737721684
dont do this. it will instantly destroy any fun youre having. if you have to abuse the game to become invincible, just skip the middle man and use the console. a lot better than buy and selling comberries over and over, then mashing a button for 10 minutes straight.
>>
>>737721901
why?

>>737721684
Every time i make a potion it fails whilst i have 20 stat points at alchemy
>>
>>737722101
There's a point where you realize it's easier to bump your skill to 30 or 40 with a trainer by throwing a little cash at it than to manually train, this is basically that point.
But other anon has a point, if you do turn yourself into superman with potions a lot of things will get boring because the challenge is drained out.
>>
>>737722245
ok I will trainer max it. But the world feels so good to just walk around nothing in. How is this game not more popular than skyrim?
>>
>>737722301
Skyrim is newer, looks better, was heavily marketed, and is more polished. Morrowind does have a lot of rough edges.

>>737721115
>i suck at geography
Are you using the map the game came with? Every single boxed copy had one of these so the devs expected you to have it while playing the game.
There's plenty of places on there that are labeled that might not be in game.
>>
>>737722435
I playing on the pc i have no map with it
>>
>>737722101
>20 stat points at alchemy
your skill is roughly your success chance. 20 is too low to gambling on a brew. eating ingredients gives a small amount of xp, but if you actually want to start making potions, you should spend money at an alchemy trainer. but if youre down on cash, just pick every plant you see and eat it while questing. its slow but free.

>why?
the best part of morrowind is the learning experience. getting bodied by snowy granius then spending hours searching arkngthand is a joy longtime players will never experience again.
>>
>>737722470
Well now you have one.
>>
>>737719792
Yes, combined "collect 10 yucks" quests take about 300 hours
>>
>>737722493
isn't that cheating?

>>737722472
I feel like i haven't even scratched the surface at 30 hours in
>>
>>737722101
make sure you have full fatigue
>>
>>737722760
I do it still fails should i just use a guide?
>>
>>737722714
>isn't that cheating
Of course not. Games back then were designed around the player reading the manual to figure out how the game mechanics actually worked instead of just guessing. Like I said, every boxed copy of the game they sold came with that map+manual in the box for the player to use.
The game never mentions that stamina lowers your chance to hit and cast spells but the manual certainly does. They even keep them archived on their website.

>>
>>737722714
No, the map is an intended feature of the game.
>>
>>737723042
>>737723112
So it's ok if i look up a guide when i'm lost?
>>
>>737722862
Honestly most of my alchemy use is just checking barrels for saltrice and eggs and they always have restore fatigue as the first or second option. Then there's Wickwheat + saltrice for restore health. You get a ton of them this way and just craft them together, so it doesn't matter how many you fail.
>>
>>737723151
How much you value your time is up for you to decide. I played the game as a kid and knew three other people that played the game that I talked with. We'd regularly discuss cool shit we found or quests that the others hadn't heard of.
>>
>>737723230
Fuck thats shit for me then. Just want to know if it's frowned upon or not for looking up stuff

>>737723160
so just keep guessing?
>>
>>737721115
>ate unseasoned food
>waah why it taste bad
>>
>>737723389
The more you level alchemy the more you see what ingredients actually do
>>
>>737723531
huh?

>>737723569
ahh ok i'll take your advice on board then thanks
>>
>>737723151
to keep your immersion intact, return to the city you got the quest from and speak to a guard, then look up the location.
>>
>>737723617
Play the side quests.
>>
>>737723693
I am i'm just fucking retarded and take too long walking about getting side-tracked in the process
>>
>>737723764
You're missing so much, I still remember the "no good action goes unpunished outlander" quest lol.
>>
>>737723924
how do i start that?

Not unless you have a specific type of autism which
>>737721115
You do lol. Just enjoy it and try not to burn yourself out too quick.

You're supposed to find a poor damsel in distress during your quests. It's a very short quest and it took me like 10 min to find the item and if you already beat the game it's not really worthy to do it again just for this one, it's only fun for the novelty.
>>
>>737724535
lol i just did that. Was wondering why there was an invisible person beside her

>>737724368
I'm loving it, it's just i feel like i'm so dogshit at it it's annoying me

Sounds like you're doing it right then. You're not really meant to do anything in a specific time frame or order, getting lost and learning the lay of the land and seeing the weird intricacies of Dunmer culture is the entire point. You will get better at it, Vvardenfell isn't all that large.
>>
>>737725472
ok thanks bro i'll keep at it
>>
>>737725041
You are playing the game right. I'd even suggest throwing in Tamriel Rebuilt and Project Tamriel at some point if you want even more content, the mod pool in general is fucking nuts. Morrowind is best played aimlessly, getting lost and bullshitting, playing up autistic headcanons for your character because you're only ever truly playing when half the game is happening in your head. Take it from my skooma-addicted juggernaut Nord bard who got kicked out of the pub for playing Megalovania.
>>
>>737723151
I give it a try but if I get lost for more than 20-30 min I look it up. Simply wandering around no longer satisfies me like it was once did.
