>Civilization VI had less players than Civilization V for over two whole years
>Civilization VII has brutally less players than V, much less than half
Why is this game so damn 'persistent'?
>>
VI and VII are objectively downgrades from V.

Civilization peaked at V, though IV is objectively better.
>>
Civ V vanilla is much worse than VII, but it has one of the greatest modding scenes in all of gaming.

V is fun but I do hate just HOW hard it punishes expansion.

Civ 5 used to go on sale with all DLC for like 1$ every steam sale until Civ 6 released, literally anyone with a steam account older than 10 years has this game in their library.
>>
all they had to do was make civ 6.5 with better gwaphics, and couple new systems like worker automation, better build order queue system, new leaders and districts and navigable rivers and it would have sold 10 million by now.

instead they made humankind 2

it's cheap and runs on absolute toasters
also i think there's are specific civ5-only fans who are accustomed to tall playstyle being the only viable one

My younger brother’s long-term girlfriend claims to have been a member of a church where the actual semi-retired Sid Meier was the organist, and i believe her

I got Civ VI for free, I don't remember when but I know what games I have bought and I haven't bought that one and it is on my library.

Epic games was giving it away free with both DLCs around the time of the pandemic, that's how I got mine

True, but even though it's more challenging it is possible to do one-city wins in VI

I played civ 5 for the first time with sound on in ages and id forgot how comfy it is despite not having Spock and Baba Yetu. I dont think i could go back to civ 4 and dont really want to play 6, at some point i will try 7 i guess but not at its current price

I genuinely hate the DLC's main menu / loading music.
>>
>>737724218
Yeah that sucks, and the workers soundbite grates i remember why i turned it off, but the music and much of the effects are great. Its funny when you meet leaders id forgot they spoke in their own language lol. I will say this, the hawian Kamehameha music is awful

babby's first civ, also the easiest one.
>>
>>737719793
It's the best one.

civ6 was dumbed down for mobile and consoles to a lesser extent.
i'll at least give it to civ7 that they tried something new but god its a trainwreck of a game.

also most players graduated to paradox games which have a better modding scene at this point and more indepth systems.

theres a lot of mechanics i really hate in civ 5. happiness is so cringe, AI getting something like a 45% discount on production and science at higher difficulties to make up for their poor priorities is blatant cheating. Military units are way too tanky (especially double/triple promoted AI units) and cost too much gold throughout the game making every military campaign a total slog compared to war bribes and sim city. Cities basically need to be planted on hill tiles or luxury tiles because flat land/bonus resource cities get no bonuses (cities have a default +2 food +1 prod so hills are +2 food/prod and luxuries are +gold while flatlands give no bonuses) so your settle locations are centralized around hill tiles. We love the king day locked behind city state resources fucks your city over so hard unless you are rich. Cities are very static after being planted, idk how else to describe it, and it makes cities feel like an afterthought or just an engine to advance your science game

I had to bring a bunch of workshop mods like 1gpt on all military units, half production and advancement cost on military units, no number of cities unhappiness, focused AI, and some other QOL that make the games more entertaining. Base civ 5 feels unplayable at this point.
