What makes Valheim worthy of its overwhelmingly positive review score?
>>737729670Honestly it deserves it for being the only survival game to make a food/hunger system that actually feels rewarding.
>>737729670it's fun.
>>737729670Its potential due to a roadmap full of liesUnfortunately we know that the devs took the money and ran and it will never be finished
>>737729670I released during lockdown.
Really good world generation. Food system is well designed. Shelter building can be as easy or autistic as you want.
Valheim was okay, but the devs obviously barely ever clock in to work on it and they were intentionally making the game less fun with patches so fuck 'em. Most positives are probably from the early release days.
It feels just right Like something stright out of late 2000s
My only problem with it is it doesn't respect your time. Grinding resources is a slog and the bosses are sponges.
>>737730151>the devs took the money and ran and it will never be finishedin it's current state it is better than most games ever made and it's a fun challenge. it's as finished as it needs to be now. what's another boss going to do? you know you'll defeat it
>>737729670idk, still waiting for it to leave EA
Biggest complaints for me are the excessive grinding/tedium just to maintain your supplies, the NPCs just randomly spawning anywhere and everywhere, and the fact that everything is a cheesefest. Like how the hoe is literally the best item in the game because a wall of dirt stops nearly all enemies and attacks.Unlike many, I actually enjoyed Mistlands for the most part, but Ashlands is pure shit. The whole biome just makes you want to leave. Not even that it's super difficult, it's just constantly up your ass with respawning enemies, raining embers, and the obnoxious heat shimmer filter over the entire biome. The parts that SHOULD be cool/fun like sieges are extremely lackluster and yet again cheesed by just using the hoe to raise dirt. Even the boss is cheesed by raising dirt.
>>737729670My Steam friends and I found a little island that was the field biome, that you could grow wheat on. We spent hours doing land reclamation to expand the island to be bigger. We figure out the distance that you had to build the tiki torches to prevent enemies from spawning anywhere near the island. Then we built an entire farm on the island, including all the processing machinery for clothing and food. We also had fun building giant rock castles a safe distance from each biome boss location, for quick access. The actual gameplay for the various biomes was pretty mid, but there was some really fun emergent gameplay in there.
