The loli artist they hired to do all the character designs is hard carrying the game I think in that department but I do think they know what they're doing game design-wise. The only real addition they have is skill upgrades compared to ror2 which is fairly linear in terms of how it actually plays out, but it has potential to be fleshed out further and a lot of characters at a baseline are already fairly fleshed out and more interesting than most ror2 characters.tl;dr, the game runs like ass, it's like half a kusoge and half a game with a lot of promise.

Luckily the items actually do fun things unlike most roguelikes (including Risk of Rain 1 & 2) and the characters have in-depth movesets that you evolve a bit differently each time, it's always a little different unless you pick the "choose your items" option like a loser. Also sword whore is cheating for new players.Shame I can't personally recommend the game to others yet since it's a bit bare bones with hardly any bosses, but hopefully the May update fixes the overall experience.
