Meanwhile the enemies scale up in power more directly, so you're left fewer "viable" solutions to combat encounters as time goes on.

The real upgrades you get are from getting troops with the correct classes and skills that create insane synergies with each other. The equipment system is completely fucked in this game. I'm not a big fan of this type of game balance. In X-COM troops are supposed to be expendable because their equipment does a lot of heavy lifting.

Lol, you definitely aren't talking about the nu-Xcoms. You need soldiers with skills, like the squadsight snipers.

Try Xenonauts 2, though. You're expected to take casualties in that game.

I fixed that pretty hard by using mods. Don't say any x-com game doesn't need at least a few mods. The mod that lets you combine any mechanical and bio augmentations is fun.

I'm not, that's called XCOM. X-COM or rather UFO as it was known in Europe is the one I'm talking about. The problem I mentioned is a trend that started with the XCOM games.

A more recent one, made by the lead designer of Piranha Bytes and his wife who drove the company into the ground.
People consider it the latest Gollum-like, if not way worse, and even former PB members played it and asked what the hell they were thinking and how someone with 25 years of experience in gamemaking could release something like this.
Hell, the game is so bad that the preorder numbers of the games by other former PB devs went up because it turned out THEY were the competent ones.
