I saw an article about a Japanese site who posted their review too early by mistake and in the review there was a supposed release date of May 4th in Japan. This information is, of course, not entirely reliable, but there you go.
That would be May 3rd in the United States.

Why is the Gabe cube so tiny? What do you gain from cramming all the parts together and making it harder to cool
>>
>>737745807
Considering 2/3rds of it is the heat sink, I think they managed to cool it just fine at its size. Assuming of course it doesnt turn out to be an oven after people test them on launch.

Did Valve already have the deal with Komodo when the released the Deck Oled? If so, did it release in japan at the same time? Maybe it's actually today through Steam and next monday through Komodo? That's how I'm coping at least.

Not too late to pick up a Switch 2

>Why is the Gabe cube so tiny?
It was supposed to be ~2x the size, but Gaben accidentally walked a bit too close to where they were storing them and his gravity absorbed some of the mass and they just went with it.

Seems way too good to be true, but I'm hopeful

I don't see the connection. Please don't try to tell me that hot commodities don't go on sale online at a high rate because

Sadly, it's about to be over soon. I might come back for future Valve hardware though. Actually, on second thought, I might start posting in HL threads until HLX/3/whatever it is comes out.
>>737746930
Yeah it feels weird how close we are now.
>>
>>737746963
idk what to tell you I've just never been impacted by scalping
even got a 4080s fe 3 days after release, and it stayed available for a good while
>>
I hope it being in my wishlist means that I will have no issue with the purchase.
I don't understand why there is so much hype for this thing. I hope Valve is ready with the volume.

just remembered I need prescription inserts for the frame

Nobody is seriously excited for this right? The hardware is dogshit even by laptop standards. You're not going to get any of the latest AMD tech with it since it's essentially a radeon rx 6600m mobile GPU that's overclocked. A mobile GPU that released in.....2021.
>>
>>737749747
>it's essentially a radeon rx 6600m mobile GPU that's overclocked
Wrong, you fell for misinformation, it's gonna be an rx 7600m with custom features that allow it to take advantage of the latest FSR technologies as if it were part of the rx 9000 series
Considering that according to the latest Steam Hardware Surveys, most people, ~60/70%, were running rigs worse than a base PS5, this setup is actually quite sensible for an upgrade and will enjoy better feature sets than the outdated RDNA 1.5 of the PS5 (The steam machine's specs are a tad bit better than the PS5 Pro)
>>
>>737749998
>it's gonna be an rx 7600m
At best, sure. That's still shit because a 7600m is rtx 2070 levels of performance. A card which came out in 2018.
>with custom features that allow it to take advantage of the latest FSR technologies as if it were part of the rx 9000 series
Not even valve claim that. It straight up says RDNA 3 on the specs page which is entirely different to RDNA 4. If it had RDNA 4 features they would've suggested as much because having ML acceleration is a big deal nowadays and you see companies like sony advertising the fuck out of it with PSSR yet valve make no mention of it at all which doesnt make sense for their marketing when it's a free marketing win. Everyone wants to ride the DLSS-style AI upscaling hype train.
>this setup is actually quite sensible for an upgrade
It's basically PS5 performance 6 or 7 years later. The PS5 is also equivalent to a 2070 in performance.
>The steam machine's specs are a tad bit better than the PS5 Pro
Maybe in the CPU department but not in the GPU at all. There's a massive gulf in performance between the two. The PS5 Pro is more like a 3070 than a 2070.
