God, JRPGs fucking suck. Most of them do, anyway. Some SJRPGs are pretty great though (and I'm admittedly into a lot of Japanese Wizardry clones/FPDungeon Crawlers). Other than that, almost all of them blow massive mega cock, and barely count as RPGs. I'm not even some anti-nip nigger or anything. The games might feel restrictive to WRPG fans, but even the most basic RPG elements like being able to choose what equipment to buy when you get to town or doing minigames is still better than most games that don't have RPG elements to me. Also, a lot of these games have super challenging optional content that take the reins off and let you flex whatever battle or skill development system they've got going on. And like you said, some dungeon crawler series are just plain challenging throughout. But you have no idea how much your average normalfaggot gets stuck on basic story bosses in these games. I wish devs would stop appealing to the lcd, but their games would get stomped on by journos in that case a lot of the time and dipshits chimping out on forums about it being too hard to see the next part of the story.
