It's unbelievable really. It's 2026 and developers still haven't figured out how to fight giant monsters as a normal human protagonist. The best attempt so far probably was Shadow of the Collossus but that turned out to just be climbing dumb monsters and then stabbing the weak points.

You simply don't do it. In reality a giant monster like that would fucking annihilate armies of dudes. Even with magical arms and armor making you immune to damage a giant could pick you up and fling your ass into the next city.

If you're going to have giant enemies, they should be dealt with via giant means. Huge fucking ballistae with explosive warheads, massive pitfall traps hoping it'll break its ankles, poison or other extreme methods should be the go-to. Otherwise you'll have to nerf the giant enemies into implausibly slow and retarded punching bags and that's no fun.

How about you don't do it, instead anytime there's a giant enemy on the field you are expected to get in the giant robot yourself? Every giant enemy in Souls can happily roll and flop around so I don't see a problem if the player can do it.

By not having a dogshit camera. There are very few games with large enemies that have a fitting camera for the encounter. The standard camera never works for that shit. If a developer isn't willing to go the extra mile and have a separate camera for large enemies then they have not earned the right to put large enemies in the game.

Yeah I'm aware, but actually using those blades to kill a giant is ridiculously implausible. Even if a giant couldn't grab you without having its fingers sliced off, he could kick or fling the ground out from underneath you sending you flying.
And yes, a retarded giant being outsmarted and slain by a quick and resourceful fighter with a massive sword is fucking kino, but in a video game that'll still just mean "hit the toes and dodge the stomps", and then the giant is just pathetic.
