Nikke's story isn't very good, it's very apparent that the writers have literally zero clue where the story is going and are just making shit up as they go. There's no thought to character arcs or thematic writing, it's just an unending chain of events leading into each other without structure.

Nikke's gameplay has its moments (for example, I had genuinely lots of fun during the Nihilister boss fight), the problem is that it's timegated to shit and there is only so much gameplay you can squeeze out of it before you either hit auto (because the stages are so easy the AI can do it for you) or you hit a brick wall (because your Combat Power Penalty is so huge everything oneshots you or you physically don't have the time to kill the boss before the timer runs out).
