The thing is, Itsuno cannot ship Dante with Trish because she's a clone of his own mother. I think that's the reason why Patty was created in the first place. Itsuno made a loli version of Trish that can end up with Dante in 10 years when he's ready to retire and pass the protagonist torch to his OCdonotsteal aka Nero

Episode 8 (Once Upon a Time) is the perfect example. The show never confirms or denies whether Dante is Tony, but the way Dante keeps insisting Ernest is mistaken, and Ernest keeps insisting Dante is Tony, makes the whole thing way more interesting than it looks on the surface. And the little hints they drop, like the tree scene, just make it even better. Ernest doesn’t know anything about Dante’s demon side, so from his perspective it’s someone dragging his childhood friend’s name through the mud, and that makes the whole situation depressing by the end of the episode. I love how quietly the show handles moments like this. There are a lot of examples, but that one alone says enough.

It's interesting to see Dante immediately after Vergil died and how day to day operations at DMC go down, but at the same time it's not all that exciting and the actual action leaves a lot to be desired.
