This game has some immaculate vibes sometimes. I'm hiking up through the cloud layer listening to CHVRCHES - Death Stranding. I jump on a zipline, the clouds clear, the chorus starts, and the giant moon starts to reveal itself as I rise. And then I ruin the moment by going into photo mode.

I don't think enough has been said about Death Stranding 2.
How it's kind of a gnostic piece. How it's a Photorealistic Anime featuring cute girls doing cute things. How it couldn't have possibly been mainstream since it's so Specific, it doesn't meet players where they stand but instead takes them on a delirious ride unique to one man's particular arrangement of worldviews. I can equip 12 different pairs of glasses, none of them confer stat benefits though they all bloc direct and reflected sunlight.
Maybe the game connects on an utterly personal level and that makes society level discussion more difficult?

That's exactly what Im doing rn, delivering the musician order as we speak.
Also Im playing on "hard" but there's another difficulty, can't remember the name but it's something that sounds REALLY hardcore so I skipped it, but to be honest the description of Hard sounds difficult but I have yet to encounter a challenging moment. I just wish this game was only walking and that your character just couldn't climb himself out of most situations, climbing is so op there's almost no point in ladders.
>>
>>737809609
To the wilder makes everything hit a lot harder during combat. Battery depletes faster too, but other than the combat it doesn't change that much to the delivering and environment unfortunately.
Ladders can still be useful, especially now that you can combine two. I love that.

I am flying through my second run of DS2 because im only doing main orders, sub orders and aid requests
but whats made a huge difference is from the beginning ive been setting aside all excess materials for the magellan, so when ive connected a bunch of knots the road is immediately built, and im already setting aside the ceramics and chemicals for lv2
ive just got to the first weapons factory mission at 30 hours, im pretty sure on my first run i was at like 90 hours at this point lol
but as a consequence im not really getting many likes at all on my structures
so i loaded up playthrough 1 and holy shit my zipliness are getting love, i think one day a week im going to load up the first save and just deliver other players lost cargo, put down atmospheric guideposts, and donate the shitloads of materials from each prepper ive accumulated
>>

>Also Im playing on "hard" but there's another difficulty, can't remember the name but it's something that sounds REALLY hardcore so I skipped it
If you're talking about DS1 and you're not playing on Legend of Legends or Legend of Legend of Legends you're just making a mistake. There's virtually no difference outside of maybe getting knocked out by a mule or killed by a BT one hit earlier (Which you will never do because you're not going to be encountering BTs ever) and having the batteries and equipment wear out slightly faster. This only matters for the very intro of the game and the instant you get past the intro there's no difficulty since you can just Bola Gun every MULE in the head instantly and for BTs you, again, are not going to be encountering them or just sneaking past them, and even then you very quickly get blood grenades and a way to kill them even quicker on top of stealth kills.

Seriously though, if you are encounter BTs past the first few hours or the introduction of a new area you're at fault because you should already have a bridge set up above their spawn point so you can just ignore it, a zipline set up to never see them again, or a shortcut so you never even go near their areas. Simple example, if you're encountering a BT at all going to the Weather Station or Timefall Farm that's your fault. If you're encountering a BT at all going to the Chiral Artist that's your fault.

Compressed/lightweight materials got replaced by mines and simply being able to use ZestHardMan's ship to easily move shit around.

Absolute boot replaces the golden boot you use to be able to get in DS1.
Chrial ladders are now meh because the new chiral bridges you can easily set up to drive trucks over gaps

Now I'm 110 hours into DS2 with 302 into the wilder completions. So nah, honestly it just comes down to how many side orders you bother to pick up.

Its actually more enjoyable than I thought delivering other players lost cargo and donating mats and equipment around the map after 400 TTW 100% clear

They dropped the ball with online aid requests though, I conpletely ignored them as soon as I saw they were automated, meaning the majority of them might not even be players in need of something the game just thinks they are.

This is how I felt about the first game. It feels like Kojima handcrafted the game personally for me, as retarded as that sounds. The story, the characters, the deliveries, the combat, the world, the music, it was all perfectly cherry-picked to appeal to me personally. Whereas other players dislike certain aspects of the game, I enjoyed it for everything it was. The second game is extremely fun too, but there was more of those things certain players didn’t like, even though I also like everything about the game just like the first one (except Dollman obviously)

It’s a mix of both. On one hand you have people with Kojima Derangement Syndrome who shudder at this game’s mere existence, but on the other you have the most chill anons who just wanna drive a delivery truck in the post-apocalypse. It’s a hatecult balanced out by a comfy “community” of actual players

It’s roughly east of the Metagenomicist. I assume it was a scripted encounter since I didn’t get caught by any Gazer BTs, I just happened upon the area and the ground suddenly turned to tar and the Hand BT came out of nowhere without warning. Guessing you must’ve taken another route
>>
>>737828907
Dollman? He’s just like that. When you kill a human, he doesn’t seem to show any concern for the life lost, all he cares about is it triggering void outs. He doesn’t say it like “Sam! What the fuck is the matter with you? That’s a human being!”, he says it more like “Ugh, Sam, now you have to incinerate the body or else it’ll cause a voidout”

It was extremely tone deaf. I had just gone through 1 and 3/4ths of a game series that had taught me to never kill anyone and treat all human life as precious.

Then suddenly I was given a weapon and the NPCs were saying, "Yeah this murders innocent people, but it's okay. Just fucking kill those bastards."

Like dude, that's a bit fucked.

There's quite a few. They all have at least one spawn point, they will always appear if you go in their area without needing to get caught by spooky ghosts. Kheir has two, first is between the pizza chef and metagenomicist and second is near the mine in the desert, next to the ocean. Of course if your drawbridge qpid is off and you already killed them, they won't respawn.

I saw a post calling Death Stranding 2 soulless even though it's absolutely unfair because it clearly has its own soul.
It's Metal Gear Solid 2 all over again. Complaining DS2 doesn't have the same music, landscape, ambience and tone is precisely like complaining about not playing as Solid Snake, boy you know you did trash MGS2 just for that, but nowadays you wouldn't call MGS2 soulless or "not metal gear".
MGS2 is fundamentally like MGS1 and DS2 is fundamentally like DS1.
>>
>>737833074
It's worse because it's too easy. Too "assessable".

DS2 needed its map to present more of a challenge. We needed more Doctors, Collectors and (holy shit) more Windfarms. We needed more difficult delivery locations, you know?

I agree with both posts. DS2 obviously has soul, you just can’t deny it. However, it’s missing a lot of the magic from the first game. I don’t just mean the tone and the plot, it’s fine if a sequel isn’t an exact clone of the first game. But DS2 feels like DS1 with its edges sanded off. Like Kojima caved to the retards that got filtered by the first game and decided to meet them halfway. That’s why Australia feels so flat in comparison - why basically every river is walkable, why there’s no ravine networks like the area south of the Junker, why there’s no giant cliffside shelters like the Doctor, why you have a doll strapped to your belt pointing out the obvious, why there’s a bigger focus on combat this time around. DS2 isn’t soulless, but the retard filter from the first game got taken off at the expense of the fans of the first game. I personally don’t mind the combat in DS2, but Australia is just so boring to hike through compared to America where you’d have the land itself forming your path, whereas in Australia you just walk in a straight line

Explain Hot Spring customization to me
So each Spring has a unique effect
and you can add a bonus effect.
But I just went in one there, got an effect i didnt expect.
Came out and checked the terminal.
The first of three slots was my secondary effect
The middle slot was empty
another players name was listed on the bottom slot who apparently gave me the additional effect
So is the middle slot another one I can unlock or for another player?
Kinda crazy you can potentially have 4 effects running at once?
>>
>>737838537
I just replayed the first one and the biggest killer for me is no music player and having to manually fiddle the licensed music playlist on YouTube on and off
The second biggest killer is the incinerator area is worthless, and the wetland beyond is absolute dog shit.
They did a great wetland with mules at the first part of the map why make it ten times bigger and only have a mule truck occasionally patrol a fraction of it
>>
>>737838924
I've never seen the 3rd slot filled by an online player. I use it to put a chiralgram buddy. A lot of the extra effects aren't really important, the main benefit is restoring stamina. I can switch up my slot if I want cold resistance.

NTA.
I agree, but it also makes you appreciate the paths with scripted music more. In DS1, you have to walk uphill in the rain, and when you are about to reach the top it clears up with a beautiful view, and as you head downhill, the music starts playing and it just hits you. In DS2 I only use the music player when I have to grind mats/reputation, not during main missions moments like that are worth it.

I think it's mainly due to two reasons.
- No Low Roar which was responsible for the majority of the mood/vibe/atmosphere of DS1. Look at the very first Death Stranding trailer and how important the song 'I'll Keep Coming' was for example.
- DS2 doesn't really have the 'sequel-twist' you come to expect from Kojima. Probably because DS2 started out as DLC. Furthermore Kojima admitted that he changed the script halfway through so a lot of the story beats feel underdeveloped.

I like DS2, as a videogame it's better to play than DS1. But DS1 was wholly original and the music of that game was a lot more poignant.
>>
>>737828185
In DS2 i used to agonize over the redundant selection of weapons not being balanced, too many guns and some were better than others.
I had to let go to realize like in real life there are too many guns to own and people choose a few firearms they like according to their fetishes.
Enjoyment of DS is a function of alignment with Kojipro's train of thought, in gameplay and story because there is a logic to the madness of the game.

Both stories are about humans using systems as tools and the games are choke full of systems and tools for the players to use. It's not random it makes sense.

Then how come void outs occur with corpses when you don't incinerates your kills?
>>
What are the chances that Kojima's OD will be as good as Death Stranding 2?
>>
>>737845215
If left on its own long enough, a corpse will go necro and a BT will emerge from it. You can see it happen in game, at least in 1. If you kill a MULE and leave the corpse there in the camp among his alive buddies, the BT will end up touching one of them causing a void out

>>
>>737846047
There are lots of plot holes in DS2 because it ignores established lore if it makes for a better scene. Like Deadman dies and goes to the beach, but shouldn't be able to coherently interact with Sam and co. The beach is supposed to be purgatory. Souls linger there temporarily before moving on to the afterlife. Troubled souls life Cliff/Neil linger there for a while until whatever trauma resolves. Deadman should be gone to the afterlife, but we need Del Taco to make funny scenes so he gets to stick around.
DS2 focuses a lot more on the spectacle than the first entry. You really need to just go along for the Ride® with Norman Reedus.

Hopefully not with Tomorrow. I don't want OP dooms powers or have the story beholden to availability of Hollywood actors. I want someone to come in fresh with their own ideas for the setting/genre, but I don't trust the Creatividad to stay out, even if retired.

what's the point of the bullet drop compensation reticule if the bullet doesn't drop?

Hate how two walking sticks are optimal hiking gear even though it makes me look stupid. Even with an exo-skelly, i'd just have that + walking sticks for even more walking power. If only optimization could also be cool.

The cannon's main feature is that it rotates 360°, this is the edge it has over the zipline.
They're weird because you don't build cannons "at things" unlike other structures, build them between points of interest. Building them high up effectively increases their range.

They really made the bridge link ranks grindy this time. I got to bridge link rank 93 in DS1 while in this I'm barely reaching 75. I'm doing something wrong

So all you do in this game is delivering cargo and fighting bandits? I am only 2 hours in, but it's really boring so far compared to KDC2 or stalker games.

Normal people can't even see bts remember. Its only dooms sufferers.
As a normal person you go outside and just suddenly get swallowed by tar and dragged away by unseen things.

I think it needs mentioning again how similar APAC is to AIPAC and that Kojima is probably based.
>>
>>737830748
this.
I honestly wouldn’t mind Dollman if he just hung around in the Magellan. I actually don’t mind him even if he’s a retard for getting his kid killed. But the fact that he’s literally tied to you and constantly yaps unprompted giving the same repetitive obvious advice over and over just ruins the whole character for me. It almost ruins the whole game.
>>
>>737840954
Agreed. I do like that the music player is there, but the lack thereof in the first game makes the actual scripted songs feel that much more meaningful. Though, to agree with the other anon’s point, I did once do a thing where I did my last few standard deliveries while playing some Low Roar and going in and out of youtube was such a headache
>>
>>737841224
Are you talking about all those threads with webms of Sam rolling down a cliff and the OP saying something like
>NOOOOO! MY SPERM DELIVERIES! MY DELUXE BUG PIZZA
Because I actually found those threads funny even though I later came to love both games when they eventually came to PC

>>737849753
Seconding the other anon. Don’t be afraid of TTW, it’s really not hard at all. Boss fights are a bit unforgiving though but nothing that isn’t doable. If that one boss gives you trouble, try using stealth takedowns on him, it’s tedious but it works
>>
Chronobiotes shouldn't have been in the game.
They made fights that were already easy, even easier.

Its because of stuff like this that I 99.999% of the time do not bring ladders or use other people's ladders. They are for low IQ people who can't figure out how to reach a certain place by the terrain alone. Fuck ladders, and fuck ziplines too. Run into and over every ladder I see when driving around.
>>
>>737885349
The S rank for that fight in the VR Training is fucking cancer, and you don't get any chronobiotes.
