>>737788042It looks painfully linear. I don't know what the fuck they were thinking
>>737790076I feel like this is actually a really inefficient weapon. Bringing tungsten telephone poles into orbit isn't cheap, and the effect isn't THAT much more damaging than a typical SRBM
>>737779398holy shit
>>737790158Correct, but it's cool.
>>737789360It feels like a studio that would benefit from some actual money for UI and audio rather than being a no-budget game. Plus the soundtrack sucks and doesn’t really fit the vibe.

>>737790076>>737790158>Bringing tungsten telephone poles into orbit isn't cheapNow you know why we're building a moonbase.
>>737790158not if you make and throw them from the moon
>>737790158Sure on a tactical level it's a waste, but priority targets will have missile defense systems or require you to have air superiority or a ground military presence for closer range missile/artillery implements. Tungsten rods from space can target anything, anywhere, and with no method I can see to defend against it. That's a precision strategic weapon with more threat and usability than nuclear warheads right there
>>737789360>The controls and UI are absolute dogshitWhat's so gamebreakingly awful about them? The default controls are indeed shit and you should rebind everything, but the general control scheme seems pretty sensible to me, as long as you keep in mind that it's designed to fit on an xbox controller. There's https://github.com/clumzy/NO_Tactitools if you want weapon hotkeys and some other things, a lot of people use it.I don't think the simple (simplistic?) controls are going away though, it seems to be a part of the game balance, some guy made a "target incoming missile" hotkey and the pisscord lost its collective shit calling it a cheat mod and whatnot. Unfortunately there's no way to fit specialized binds like that on a controller without a gazillion radial menus or combos that slow everything down. Although for some reason everyone is fine with weapon hotkeys and target group save/restore, kek

>>737791419Only good against stationary targets, though. Anyone can track the carrier satellite and detect a launch, and it isn't that hard to make a pretty good guess as to what the target is given the ground track at the time of launch. You could have an hour or more to evacuate the area if tracking is proficient.

>>737791652>the UI isn't bad!>Anyway, here's the third party program you have to use to make it decent
>>737793096https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yuNaegwHnGo
>>737791419>no method I can see to defend against itan interceptor missile or two could feasibly knock them off target if you catch them in the upper atmosphere, but even that is a pretty insane technical feat
>>737793180Also, how would you even provide terminal guidance? You can't put an optical seeker on the nose, it's going to be several thousand degrees. You might not even be able to send it INS info because it's going to be surrounded by a plasma sheath scrambling all signals
>>737777570Shame what happened
>>737793740I assume you'd rely on inertial guidance once it gets too spicy.
>>737793736Considering it'd be a mass of pure kinetic energy, you need a serious payload to be able to alter its course even slightly. It's not carrying an explosive payload; just hitting it won't detonate it and then the worry is gone. That mass is still falling down mostly on course unless you hit it strong and high up. The height at which you'd need to intercept it and the speed at which the rod drops compared to how long it would take a missile to reach the height you would need to intercept it at to provide enough of a trajectory change would mean the interceptor would probably need to be launched before the rod was dropped
>>737791903https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8r3IHDr7M2s
>>737793486The UI isn't bad if you consider the design constraints (must be playable with a controller). If you're using a less constrained input method you can install mods to take advantage of it, but my point is the game is fine without them. It's not some overwhelming advantage, just a bit less fumbling with the controls.
>>737777570I'M STANDING ON THE EDGE OF TOMORROWAND IT'S ALL UP TO ME HOW FAR I'LL GO
>>737794041You don't need to counteract the forces or even destroy it. You just need to deform it enough that the surface is no longer uniform, then basic aerodynamic forces would be more than enough to pull it off course. And the interceptors wouldn't necisarily need to be launched from the ground either. They could easily be deployed from a network of geostationary defense satellites, positioned above strategic targets. It'd still be an insane feat of engineering, and yeah, the mass would probably still be falling somewhere near the target. But it's certainly possible.
>>737794391what is the point of this
>>737795809It looks nice
>>737777570What game is this?
>>737795494True changing the aerodynamics of it would probably have more of an effect than the actual force of the interceptor. An explosive payload probably wouldn't be useful since that's mostly widespread force and heat, and it'd be difficult to hit it with something physically powerful from the ground. Defense satellites would probably be the best option, but at that point if you're fighting orbital warfare with orbital defenses it just straight up turns into space warfare and the winner is whoever can achieve orbital superiority.Consider this though. Since the rod would be difficult to force off of course, and you'd need considerable physical force to deform it as well considering the material. Instead, have the interceptor be designed to stick to the rod and change its aerodynamics by addition. Not sure how feasible that is, but I just think it'd be funny if the best defense by hitting it with a giant ball of super chewing gum XEither way, it'd be such a skill shot to even hit that thing with whatever interceptor you have, you also need to remember that that bitch is still coming down SOMEWHERE. I'm imagining on top of the insane engineering required for the defense system, they'd also need to calculate the post-interception impact zone and quick response evacuate that area as well else an attack would still have a huge public morale hit.
