Sure on a tactical level it's a waste, but priority targets will have missile defense systems or require you to have air superiority or a ground military presence for closer range missile/artillery implements. Tungsten rods from space can target anything, anywhere, and with no method I can see to defend against it. That's a precision strategic weapon with more threat and usability than nuclear warheads right there
>>
>>737789360
>The controls and UI are absolute dogshit
What's so gamebreakingly awful about them? The default controls are indeed shit and you should rebind everything, but the general control scheme seems pretty sensible to me, as long as you keep in mind that it's designed to fit on an xbox controller. There's https://github.com/clumzy/NO_Tactitools if you want weapon hotkeys and some other things, a lot of people use it.
I don't think the simple (simplistic?) controls are going away though, it seems to be a part of the game balance, some guy made a "target incoming missile" hotkey and the pisscord lost its collective shit calling it a cheat mod and whatnot. Unfortunately there's no way to fit specialized binds like that on a controller without a gazillion radial menus or combos that slow everything down. Although for some reason everyone is fine with weapon hotkeys and target group save/restore, kek

Only good against stationary targets, though. Anyone can track the carrier satellite and detect a launch, and it isn't that hard to make a pretty good guess as to what the target is given the ground track at the time of launch. You could have an hour or more to evacuate the area if tracking is proficient.

an interceptor missile or two could feasibly knock them off target if you catch them in the upper atmosphere, but even that is a pretty insane technical feat

Also, how would you even provide terminal guidance? You can't put an optical seeker on the nose, it's going to be several thousand degrees. You might not even be able to send it INS info because it's going to be surrounded by a plasma sheath scrambling all signals

Considering it'd be a mass of pure kinetic energy, you need a serious payload to be able to alter its course even slightly. It's not carrying an explosive payload; just hitting it won't detonate it and then the worry is gone. That mass is still falling down mostly on course unless you hit it strong and high up.
The height at which you'd need to intercept it and the speed at which the rod drops compared to how long it would take a missile to reach the height you would need to intercept it at to provide enough of a trajectory change would mean the interceptor would probably need to be launched before the rod was dropped

The UI isn't bad if you consider the design constraints (must be playable with a controller). If you're using a less constrained input method you can install mods to take advantage of it, but my point is the game is fine without them. It's not some overwhelming advantage, just a bit less fumbling with the controls.

You don't need to counteract the forces or even destroy it. You just need to deform it enough that the surface is no longer uniform, then basic aerodynamic forces would be more than enough to pull it off course. And the interceptors wouldn't necisarily need to be launched from the ground either. They could easily be deployed from a network of geostationary defense satellites, positioned above strategic targets. It'd still be an insane feat of engineering, and yeah, the mass would probably still be falling somewhere near the target. But it's certainly possible.
>>
>>737794391
what is the point of this
>>
>>737795809
It looks nice
>>
>>737777570

What game is this?
>>
>>737795494
True changing the aerodynamics of it would probably have more of an effect than the actual force of the interceptor. An explosive payload probably wouldn't be useful since that's mostly widespread force and heat, and it'd be difficult to hit it with something physically powerful from the ground. Defense satellites would probably be the best option, but at that point if you're fighting orbital warfare with orbital defenses it just straight up turns into space warfare and the winner is whoever can achieve orbital superiority.
Consider this though. Since the rod would be difficult to force off of course, and you'd need considerable physical force to deform it as well considering the material. Instead, have the interceptor be designed to stick to the rod and change its aerodynamics by addition. Not sure how feasible that is, but I just think it'd be funny if the best defense by hitting it with a giant ball of super chewing gum X
Either way, it'd be such a skill shot to even hit that thing with whatever interceptor you have, you also need to remember that that bitch is still coming down SOMEWHERE. I'm imagining on top of the insane engineering required for the defense system, they'd also need to calculate the post-interception impact zone and quick response evacuate that area as well else an attack would still have a huge public morale hit.

Yeah but Nuclear Option has IR, Optical, SARH, ARH, and ARAD missiles. You can be flat hatting within half a wingspan of the ground and you'll still have to notch and hammer on your ECM. Sometimes your only option is to break line of sight, which makes flying over water (unavoidable on the archipelago map) practically a death sentence.

i played Bf3 project reality with about 10-20 other people. At that point everyone just generally got on at the same time every night around eveningtime. If theres a desire to play, doesnt matter how many people are playing, as long as you can fill a match, youll be having a good time.

No physics, but at least we can see skin pores.
No functional mirrors, but at least we have ugly raytracing in puddles.
And of course this means we can't have more than a dozen people on screen at a time. You want big battles in your war games? You want pedestrians and traffic in your big city game? Too bad, here cinematic 10 minute talking cutscene, fuck you.

The proba of a particle being on the other side of a physical obstacle it cannot physically pass through doesn't fall immediately to zero, but follow a continuous (sharp) drop

So if the obstacle is thin enough and you're lucky enough the particle actually teleport to the other side if you check

It isn't even in the top twenty of the weirdest shit in QM

Remember when Microsoft was the only one charging to even PLAY the game online at that point in time?

>>737826432
and they did it in 3 years while 343 takes over half a decade with an engine that was already given to them

I remember how much people bragged about PS3 online being free but had 10% the functionality of Xbox live. PS3 didn't even have a party chat system LMAO How the fuck do you even talk to your friends without party chat?
>>
>>737827090
>How the fuck do you even talk to your friends without party chat?
Send invite -> Get in game -> Share the voice with your entire team, and not just your circlejerk of up to 6 people.

Party chat wasn't worth $60 a year.
>>
>>737826575
Because they were the only ones with a working online infrastructure. Steam didn't work for years and PSN was trash.
>no working friends list
>no private chat
>no leaderboards
>slow downloads
>dropped games
And Microsoft was doing it back in 2001. Valve/Sony didn't get it together until arguably 10 years later. When Sony finally got their shit together, they started charging a price lol.
>>
>>737827570
>no working friends list
It worked fine, although the main issue was every game was doing its own special-snowflake system for invites when it should have been all OS-level (which PS3 did have) like MS mandated on the 360.
>no private chat
DMs were fine for my needs.
>no leaderboards
What? One of the earliest online games I owned for my PS3 was Super Stardust HD, and it had leaderboards.
>>slow downloads
This one's a genuine complaint, and wasn't something fixed until mid-PS4.

>Steam didn't work for years and PSN was trash.
Everyone on PC was already using TS3/Ventrilo/Mumble for voice well before Steam.
>>
>>737827319
>can't even play different games and talk to your friends

I'm not here to argue anon, I'm telling you, the golden days of online gaming were on X360. I've never been able to recreate those experiences again and I've only touched the tip of the iceberg. No one talks anymore because everyone is in their little safe space bubble on discord or zoned out. Or you get censored due to insignificance bullshit. You could play a single game back then and have 10 new friends. That $50/year price was totally worth it. I'd trade modern online gaming for it in a heartbeat.
>>
>>737828085
You faggots keep inconveniencing yourself just to save $5/month. Not to mention you missed out on making new friends. New laughs. New experiences.
>>
>>737828152
>the golden days of online gaming were on X360
That's complete bollocks with the existence of online PC gaming. The golden days of online gaming was 1999, with the fervent UT & Q3 communities.

i cant believe how badly they fucking did this game. the first map was by far the coolest most interesting map. WHY. WHY were the other maps so fucking dogshit and boring. all the same shit, looks the fucking same everywhere you go instead of having varying environments like the first. and filling it with god awful gaudy glowing cosmetics
and taking like 10 god damn years to optimize it so it would actually use more than 1 fucking cpu core and get better than 30fps in the big battles (the whole point of the game) on even the most high end supercomputers
fucking niggers
