While I think making the support team in MGS3 the notIlluminati was retarded, I really like all the stuff about the coup occurring behind the scenes and the factionalism that arose, with all the glowies in their own internal cold war. And the AIs turning into a kind of Frankenstein's monster is cool as fuck. What really sucks is tying everything to the Boss. It makes sense for her death to be the defining moment of Big Boss' life, but making the whole deep state power structure obsessed with her makes the world feel small (and retarded).
