Simply because it’s the best role playing game. If you want to role play as a character Skyrim has got you covered. Want to be a Druid? Summon bears and tame animals. Want to be an invisible assassin? Get muffle, invis, and a dagger. Want to be a collector? Build your armory and display all your unique item treasures. It gets a lot of hate for being a simplified RPG but it’s one of the few games that actually lets you role play instead of just allocating stats and casting different colored fireballs. When you add on modding you can tweak any aspect of the game and tailor make it to your desires. Until a new game has this level of freedom and modding capabilities and scale it will remain top dog for role playing immersion.
