This game has potential. Give it a try if you like Danganronpa

Made this thread mainly to apologize to the anon in pic rel lol. I made it during commute and was too busy to reply before it got archived, I was hoping it'd stay alive longer. So to answer your question regarding my thoughts about Kumitantei. Beware, it's kind of long and will obviously contain spoilers. But if I had to give a concise spoiler-free opinion, I enjoyed it. However I can only recommend episode 1 to people like me; massive fans of the genre who are ready to ignore small to middling gameplay hiccups, piratefags who can try the product for free and treat it like it was a fangame, and people who are ready to give non-japanese/korean developers a chance when it comes to "respecting the vibes" of Danganronpa. For both the good (wacky anime setting, otaku pandering) and the bad. Long review:I had a good time with it, even if the case was almost a literal retelling of DR1's first chapter. I thought it was a cool nod, but it's not the kind of thing I'd like to see in a product designed to be paid. would have been okay in a fangame like Another or Eden Garden. No issue with the VN parts other than not having the option to enjoy both the text blip sfx and short voice clips. But the minigames for the most part just sucked, especially the card battle deckbuilder thing. It doesn't feel satisfying to play and was something I already disliked when I played the demo some time ago, cuz it's too rng reliant. You can almost deplete the lifebar of the enemy, but at the last moment they barrage you with a combo because they happened to have 4 cards of the same color that beat yours, almost resetting your HP (common lifebar) and you are forced to go through the mini-game for another minute. Similar time-wasting problem with the space invaders thing meant to be this game's version of Hangman's Gambit. If you are unlucky, you can be wasting almost two minutes shooting aliens to cycle through the letters until the ones you need show up.
Vidual novels aren't real videogames.
>>737817160Mahiru and Hiyoko were also censored (I know an uncensored version exists)>>737817350cont.Didn't realize I typed that much lol. Regarding the plot of the case itself, mystery and overall direction of the game:To be fair, I was slightly disappointed by the MC's twin brother being the killer. Rather, by how the player was meant to find out about it or the lack of impact the reveal was. I honest to god thought it was going to be a red herring, because I didn't want to accept the prosopagnosia schizo being the key element in making you realize it was him. The writer being left handed leaving those kind of marks on the forged letter was kind of smart but I never would've caught it. It's kind of a staple in this genre not having all available info given to you before the trial, but there were two instances of characters discussing events that took place and the player didn't have a chance to see them. Like the supposed card Moichi gave Himari when they first came at the school. I don't remember a scene like this. I'm really hoping this disconnect is by design and related to the bigger mystery, like the zombie virus or the scene in the prologue that implied the twins somehow got out of the school, where Moichi was wearing an attorney's badge. Might be alternate timelines or something of that nature, I thought Kaguya was a phantom for Himari to vent her frustrations at first but she clearly is real. Speaking of Himari I liked what they were trying to do with her reaction to the case, but the voice actress kind of failed to deliver her contempt for Moichi. I hope she turns killer at one point and we switch protag mid-way, it'd be interesting.>>737817575But it contains games. It even has epic renditions (copies) of classic arcade titles such as space invaders and jumpman vs donkey kong. I spent more time than I'm comfortable admitting trying to see how far I could go in the Merlite cabinet hoping to find some kind of reward.
2x2 will save danganronpa. We don't need fangames or indie bootlegs anymore.

>>737820070Japanese people are vocal about the latest danganronpa indie clone Kumitantei and they are NOT happy.https://twitter.com/gamespark/status/2047465841101574181For real, read through the replies, most seethe about plagiarism or the artstyle that immediately screams it's not actually japanese. I reacted the exact same when I first discovered the demo. It's why I can only shill it to fans so starved for content in this genre (me) willing to look past it. As with many things, the art either grows on you or you stop caring
Will it ever be finished?
>>737816789So is it a full game or do I have to wait years for it to be finished?
>>737820601It will. This year for sure :) :-(>>737820649Seeing that it took one year and a half (if not more) since the kumitantei demo release and episode 1, you'll need to wait years. Like of the devil, ciconia and YTTD. Welcome to the clubSeriously why are there so many episodic mystery game releases. Is it to build hype through speculation? It's not the 2000s anymore. There won't be any rokkenjima forums or court-records
I liked it.

Welcome to the clubCalled it :/ God, this sucks. I used to get so excited whenever these games got announced, and now I just feel empty. I get that making a game is hard, but I really can’t be bothered to buy it, play it, and then wait years for any kind of conclusion. It just sucks

sorry for all caps I didn't mean it
At first glance the art turned me off, but it actually passes ‘the boob test’ so I will give it a chance.
>>737816789The prologue was too wordy, I dropped it. The characters didn't look interesting enough for me to bother trying.
