Should modders respect the developers' artistic vision?
>>
>>737820709
I can do whatever the fuck I want
>>
modders have never given a fuck and you don't have to give a fuck about modders
>>
>>737820709
To a degree. A good modder would be able to spot the difference between artistic vision and unfortunate trends of the time. For example, here both are kind of bad. The top obviously has the hideous filter that was popular back then, but the bottom loses those stark contrasts that sell the brutal african sun.

Not really, don't like it, don't download it.
>>

>piss filter
>art
>>
At what point is a mod considered disrespectful?
>>
>>737820709
if the developers' artistic vision was that good people wouldn't be modding it out
>>

The black hawk down piss filter is a valid stylistic choice. The fact that it makes the place feel sickly and unpleasant is vital to the actual atmosphere of a horror game set in broad daylight.
>>
>>737820709
no, modders should improve the game.
>>
>>737820971
When it's made by the developer and you're forced to download it.
>>

I used an FOV slider because i don't like having Chris' glorious biceps taking half the screen
>>
>>737820827
its still artistic vision if its influenced by trends of the time
>>
>>737821221
ermmm akshually if i dont like it, its not artistic vision
>>
>>737821497
this but unironically
>>
>>737820827
those are the same thing
what gives art its value is exactly the fact that it reflects the feelings of someone from the past. that's why if you write your name on the colosseum you'll get a huge fine but if someone did the same thing 200 years ago the scratches would be preserved with the utmost care.
That said modding doesn't ruin anything as the original game is still there, so i will gladly install the mod that skips the dogshit turret chapter

Dont care still love Sheva!
>>

No, especially when the "vision" boils down to filling my screen with garbage including but not limited to:
>TAA
>motion blur
>color filters
>camera effects (film grain, chromatic abberation, lens flare, etc)
>ugly unlikeable characters
>current year politics in a setting that isn't current year
Even if a game doesn't go out of its way to look bad, the "artistic vision" isn't some unimpeachable thing to be revered
>>
>>737820709
Nope, localizers should but modders are free
