vampire witcher sounded alright but seeing the gameplay, i almost fell asleep. Polish studios have a really difficult time making vibrant worlds and interesting worlds it seems. They all look drab and uninspired, almost every time. CDPR was barely an exception.

I don't know, if the abilities you learn are actually significant and affect more than just combat, then it could be interesting. Do you get a perk to potentially unlock some alternative routes you can't get through otherwise, or do you use the time on some additional quests?
If it's all just combat stuff, then it would be as you say. I'd probably just play the entire game with no perks just because I'd rather do more content even if it means the game will be harder.

What did to anons think? I think the combat and graphics are likely to be decent at best, so the game will live or die on how good the plot, storytelling and worldbuilding are. I wasn't really impressed by the NPC reactive dialogue today and the shrine/haunted grounds quests seemed uninspired. It was interesting that the vampire lords have a logistical setup for blood supply and that the protagonist attacked that to disrupt their operations. That was novel and cool.

Overall, I'd give the looks from today like a 5/10 if I'm being honest. But I think the game could be quite good if it knocks the story and moral ambiguity out of the park.

The timer thing will work against them in terms of sales and reception from normies. I know its not a real time timer but still.

Combat didn't look very impressive.
Graphically I think it looks good but the animations look stiff at times.

The tower climbing to identify POIs and activities looked like something straight out of Far Cry/Ass Creed.
I very much prefer open worlds built with the idea of nudging the player towards locations through the geography and layout of the world itself. This doesn't mean linear worlds but rather things you see in the distance, paths, smoke from fires, rumors, signs of battle, sounds etc. I hate that so many developers rely on the "use tower to reveal area" mechanic instead of having the player discover things more organically.

I do love their approach to quests: you don't have main and secondary quests, each quest can help you in some way or another to achieve your main objective.
I think if they can make that system work and have good choice&consequence the game could turn out to be something very cool.
I don't really mind the time limit, you control when you advance time so it becomes more about thinking about your decisions and managing time and not about being rushed to make a decision. I think that can add another layer of C&C.

I think the setting is super cool and there aren't a lot of RPGs built around the idea of you being a vampire.

I can live with some jank and I've played through games that had meh combat because I loved other things about them so I'm cautiously optimistic about it and I hope they deliver.
