I rather enjoyed EA's interpretation of him being an immortal ayylmao marooned on a planet of cavemen for fratricide and forced to spend millennia nudging these dumb apes towards sapience before the Scrin show up. It gives him that bit of nuanced mix of obvious self-interest and massive ego while also giving him some very good points to make and reasons to act the way he does.
I watched Wargames recently, and realized Barry Corbin's role in it was probably what inspired them to make his RA2 character. He was perfect for the role too. I had to do a double-take sense he looks a lot different, but his voice is 100% the same.
