She never had a problem with men, she had a problem with the strictness of the military and how you weren't allowed to try to save people if they were deemed a lost cause. She's a loose cannon, but she has grown into a person that is confident in her power and technique. She knows when she is physically outmatched and must use her other skills to win. As long as Samus is able to listen to reason and can give a coherent argument for her position and acts like a respectable individual, people will love the movie. If she's a girl boss who don't need no man, acts like a meat head, gets people killed and doesn't seem to give a shit about it, then the movie is dead.
