You know, I actually agree with them, though not in the context in which they are speaking. If you look up the word "mid" in the dictionary, there will be a picture of the AC franchise.Even the first few were just average in terms of quality.
The first game was an extremely dry and boring game. As for the second game, they actually managed to make it fun by way better writing and story, and just enough improvements to the gameplay to nicely complement the story. It felt like a game with actual direction.Sadly, in true Ubisoft fashion, they thought they found a winning formula here and proceeded to run it into the ground by shitting out identical games yearly with Brotherhood and Revelation, and I will take 3 here even. They are not actually bad games, unlike the first one, but they offer so little improvement over 2 that it's hard to justify their release. Obviously just an attempted cash grab from Ubisoft.

I never like AC1, it was half-baked in every concept. AC2 was a franchise carrying concept, but they kept trying to reinvent the wheel instead of building on top of it. First one still has the best atmosphere out of any of them, it's unmatched. I'm upset that they didn't remake that or even 2 and just jumped to Reddit Flag but it has boats and shit so I get it.
First game was a tech demo and the second game had more meat on its bones. Throughout the entire series you always had moments where shit goes wrong because of a rogue ai pathing, controls that worked before now making you jump off of shit, or combat just not working. Now add a shallow story where the history parts are already set in stone and hardly affect the present other than the end of 3.It's a 4/10 franchise and I'm tired of hearing it's not.

The series would go back and forth between adding more shit to fill space and just adding more space. The combat was pretty fun and stealth worked well with some interesting twists. AC2 is just a good game. There's so many sequels to it that it sort of gets lost in the shuffle. I can't play someone for seeing Rogue, Unity, Syndicate, Origins and Odyssey and deciding they'd rather just not bother with that series.

Bear in mind, AC4 came out the same year as GTA 5 and 2 years after skyrim. People still play both those games, a lot. They still get discussed, a lot.
