D4 legitimately looks so goofy and it has nothing to do with the gameplay, I don't know how to describe it. It's like a really high budget version of a korean mobile game or something. Everything just exists on top of each other, nothing meshes well together. The Warlock demon animations just play one after another, there is no sense of flow. The mount just spawns in and spawns out of the ether, slowly fading away when you talk to a NPC. Even in World of Warcraft it felt more involved because of the casting animation.

It's officially engoodened.The goods - Story gets better after you get through 2-3 Lilith memory sequences and start working with the Amazons- Affixes are MUCH better, "+6.8% more damage on a Tuesday afternoon while the enemy is facing South by South-West" are pretty much all gone, still exist in the paragon board a little bit though- War plans are weird as fuck at first imo, but basically you can get more rewards from the shit you like and avoid the Infernal Helltide Pods (you have to be a fucking retarded pothead to enjoy that shit, fucking sitting in one room fighting nothing but zerg demons)- the flexibility of the revamped skills tree is nice but, see below in the bads- +skills in the charms is kino, a great replacement for +vulnerable damage or shit like that in your affixes, I've got +5 werewolf skills in my charms atm and its cool- i did a legion event on skovos that was kino, basically an amazon calls out directions of enemy attacks along the beach and everyone has to split up to defend simultaneously, its well executed, PoE could never- alot of small quality of life stuff like the Horadic Cube letting you take a common item and transmute it into a uniqueThe bad- weightless combat, combat feels shit, way, WAY too many enemies on the screen (PoE tards will love this) I mean reduce the enemy count by 30% and why do 7 little bats or 6 ghost men need to appear behind you at all times? They always die in one hit no matter your build- I don't like damage resist, movement speed, resource generation and other utility shit missing from the revamped skill tree. There's times where I have nothing to do with my points except "LOL MORE DMG" (you can make these adjustments with charms a bit through)- massive audio glitches during campaign on PS5, the patch earlier today didnt touch that problem- Warlock seems ridiculously strong to the point where if one is in your vicinity, just stand still and let him handle everything, rest your hands

I'm at paragon 93 on Rogue right now, breezing my way through torment 4 with my penetrating shot build. This has been a lot more enjoyable than previous seasons in all honesty, seems like you can actually get a pretty good way through the game without needing to know minmax autism. Really hoping this build goes the distance, I think it will since I am doing just fine without any ancestrals, tempers, or master working, only 4/5 paragon boards, and I don't even have the charm set I want to use. Things are looking up.Friend of mine is running through the game with warlock and hasn't been very satisfied with it, citing it underperforming. I was considering doing warlock first but decided against it because I'm a roguefag and rogue has been bad for the last few seasons and wanted to give it a shot with the new changes. For any anons playing warlock, how is it?Regarding the skill tree rework, I'm liking it so far but with some big footnotes. First off, removing passives I think was a strictly good thing. Builds previously just ended up revolving around putting as few points into actual skills as possible so you could load up on as many passives as possible. Most builds ended up using the same passives so all builds looked very similar with just a handful of skill changes, and knowing what passives are good as a non-guide follower is tough due to all sorts of undocumented interactions. So this new tree is much more friendly to making a build without using a guide. On the flip side, it feels like a lot of skills have a pretty optimal choice most of the time. To give an example, with shadow imbuement, for the three choice I think the top node is by far the best in all situations and I can't see taking the others. A lot of skills seem that way to me, where despite there being 12 combinations in theory, in practice only a few of those are good.

Diablo 4 is definitely a game I want to like in theory.But for some reason it just kind of bores me. Something about the weight of every action is too light.I know this is a weird comparison but I loved Baldur's Gate 3, played the shit out of it. Every action felt heavy, sounds had a satisfying thunk, you never just fired and forgot.In Diablo all I ever see is your character casting some insanely flashy attack like it's nothing, to vaporize a dozen enemies like it's nothing, and you do this endlessly for 30 min in a dungeon. Yet the theme and tone of the game comes off like it's true to be fear and hunger with a bit of dark souls, like you're suffering through attrition in a cold unforgiving world.But it's not like that at all, you're a fucking Chinese cultivation Lord who treats the world like it's vampire survivors. The set design of the dungeons are so fucking pretty, but either I can't fucking see anything during combat because the game is too flashy and too much fucking shit is happening on screen, or I'm sprinting through the area because the combat is over too quickly.I personally would like to see a more slow paced game with more intense encounters. Fewer enemies, less mobile ADHD design, less flash, more grounded combat. I feel like this game is trying to synchronize with my dopamine receptors but it's so overwhelming and incomprehensible that I can't even find it amusing

Just finished it. final mephisto battle was pure ludo. Interesting how the game ends with a pure clean slate though in a sense that all most of the characters they introduced in d4 are now all dead. I'm guessing since they're teasing maybe Baal and we're definitely going to khanduras next, it will be a completely fresh start? Assuming the game does get another dlc of course.
