yeah it was the farm quest
that shit was fucked up

They kidnapped children and raped them in that quest.

Phantom Liberty has fantastic writing. The base game is where it suffers, but mostly at the beginning up to the heist. They could have made Silverhand way more unlikeable too imo
>>
>>737858060
Phantom Liberty has more disgusting niggers packed into the short few hour expansion than is all of the base game. FUCK YOU CHOKE TO DEATH ON A BBC BAD DRAGON DILDO

serial rapist gets shot and goes into a coma
that's great right?
But where's the fucking boys
So you have to figure out a way to spark a memory into this dude so you can analyze his dreams
and you have to use the location clues you identify from the recording in order to piece together just where this dude was
All that so you can finally find where all the kidnapped and raped boys were at
I felt more urgency to get a move on and save them than I ever did to meet Hanako at embers
definitely the best mission in the base game

I loved Phantom Liberty but was kind of mixed on the ending. You're either saving Songbird despite her having no real connection to you and lying about literally everything to leave you to die and save herself, or you sell her out and get called Judas and lose connection to everything and everyone because of unexpected medical complications that didn't have anything to do with the final choice itself.

You can fully support him, ditch him, or make him question himself so at the very least you fuck up the Corpo's snuff film on your way out.

V later went on to the Great Beyond after leaving Johnny with the body, but Johnny lived happily ever after.

>Have a Suzaku versus Lelouch dramatic shootout with Reed
>Pick up the dying body of Songbird
>Buckle her in and plug in her life support
>Watch her blast off to the moon
Gave me a very strong feeling.
Yes she betrayed me, yes she was just out to save her own ass, but she betrayed her teacher. She betrayed her country. Her corrupt president. At the end of the day she was practically in the same damn pair of shoes as we were. But she also couldn't have done it by herself. I was perfectly content to play the Sam to her Frodo.
At the end of the day, we could never have held the heavens together. We still had three generations of unfinished business to repay to Arasaka first.

>>
>>737861942
>she was practically in the same damn pair of shoes as we were
Well, yeah, that was the issue. I'd have been fine helping her if she was just a desperate stranger asking for help, but it's the blatant manipulation of a dying person and her still fully believing that she was entitled to the only cure in the end that bothered me. As is there isn't a single sincere moment with her leading up to that choice, just lies and a wave goodbye. Reed's crazy for staying loyal to Myers for so long, but he actually follows through on everything he offers you and tries to do right by you beyond that.
>>
>>737857369
overrated quest
>>
>>737863163
She's being sincere. She just wasn't being honest, and she was hiding the fact that only one cure could happen because she wanted to have it for herself. Maybe there was some narrative dissonance between what V should have been thinking and me, as the player, because I was never trying to save V. I always considered there to be more work to do as long as Arasaka Tower is still standing. If we both could have been saved by flying off to the moon to get the operation done, I would have waved and asked her to send a post card as she blasted off regardless.
>>
>>737863678
>She's being sincere. She just wasn't being honest
You don't understand what words mean, do you?
She was a lying whore that betrayed everyone and everything she ever got close to and she did it because, she was a she. Period.
And none of that is immoral because Songbird is a female, according to modern western ideology.
That's the moral of the story and Silverhand simping is totally in line with both his character and the overarching feminism of the plot.
>>
>>737863678
>and she was hiding the fact that only one cure could happen because she wanted to have it for herself.
Well, yeah. That was my issue. There is genuine tragedy to Songbird's story being a slave to Myers, but I don't feel like she's given enough time with the player for me to fully buy the narrative of V happily dying for her sake when their only interactions together were her lying and getting a lot of innocent people killed in the crossfire.

Well, V was dying when he walked in and he was twice as dying now. In the end the only thing that really changed is Mr. Hands became the new de facto ruler of Dogtown (Naturally, because of V's constant and enthusiastic helping him because Mr. Hands is based) and a whole bunch of shit got really fucked up for a small group of important people.
>>
>>737857369
Apparently i missed out on this entire chain questline because i didn't understand that they made the cop that kills the dude in this quest entirely immortal and also the strongest cop in Night City who kills you in two shots so i kept reloading this quest and went to get the best sandevistan in the game just to throw as many knives one the cop's head and slice her the fuck apart with charged higurashi thinking it was possible but when i realized that she couldn't be killed until she killed the client i was so pissed off i immediately executed him even though he was begging for me to listen.

>didn't have anything to do with the final choice itself
Yes, but the fact that there won't be a happy ending is hidden right in the title of the DLC: "PHANTOM" LIBERTY, meaning the prospect of freedom for V was always just an illusion from the very beginning. The "cure" leaves V trapped in a prison of their own making. There's no freedom for Reed either, who either dies or just remains a puppet of the state. Even Songbird's fate isn't really known if you side with her - she's apparently alive, but the idea that the moon people just cured her with no strings attached seems unlikely and we never find out what ultimately becomes of her.

Despite everything I actually like the Tower ending. It's still shitty and depressing like every other ending (except with the Aldecados having crazy amounts of plot armor for some reason), but there's a sincerity to moments with Viktor and Misty that acknowledge how the world keeps on turning and even if you find yourself at your lowest point you can learn to change and find something else to live for.

Sure V's not a merc anymore, but it's not like going out of your way to die in some pointless blaze of glory like the drunks at the Afterlife all hype up is the only true path to happiness.

>she betrayed me
I disagree.
Think about it: She doesn't try to keep the cure from V, ever. There's no coup de grace or rug pull where she tries to fuck you over. She just admits, without any provocation AND in a moment where she's really weak and knows V could easily kill her, that the cure is only good for one person - then she passes out and leaves her fate in your hands. She's essentially offering the cure to you.
>>
>>737864872
I love and hate the Tower for similar reason’s the ending is bittersweet everyone for the most part does fuck off but it shows you who your friends really is and you get a clean slate to life.

But also depending on your choices your still a crack shot marksman or genius on par with Songbird so invalidating aspects of the ending it self, I still think it’s the best ending tho staying true to nature of Cp77 story and cyberpunk in general
>>
>>737865730
No she wasn't. If you ask her where that leaves you and what the Hell you're supposed to do, she says you're strong enough to go off and probably find your own cure.
>>
>>737865730
>There's no coup de grace or rug pull where she tries to fuck you over.
The entire job is a rug pull to fuck you over. She explicitly chooses V because he/she is already dying and she's able to manipulate your desperation with the promise of a way to save you.

I really like the writing of the Tower ending itself, but its DLC status means you do just kind of have to ignore the rest of the finale with Arasaka that had already been set up. It's like ending Star Wars with Luke not making it to the final battle because he had a side-gig and hears that Darth Vader died off-screen or something instead.
>>
>>737866248
The best part is if you actually romanced Kerry, since when you call him after waking up from your coma he's the only one who is legitimately happy you're still alive and is more than willing to continue where things left of. That's an unironic good end for the whole ordeal, you just have to be gay to get it.

That was always kind of an issue of having the story being about V living on borrowed time. On one hand, there's supposed to be this fast-paced desperation where you only have so much time left to find a cure, and anyone wasting that time is potentially killing you for their own selfish gain.

On the other hand, you have all the time you like to do stupid missions like stop a car killing lawn flamingos and having a boxing match with a clown, so there's a bit of dissonance between the high stakes of the main plot and just letting you have fun exploring an RPG. lol

That's actually kind of sweet. It's funny just how much dissonance there is in the tone of those final phone calls.

If you're romancing Judy it's genuinely tragic, because she thought you abandoned her and decided to move on and is finally in a stable and happy place in her new life two years later. So even if she still cares about you, she asks that you not try to take away what she's newly built.

And then you have Panam who doesn't even bother to pick up the fucking phone even after hearing you were in a coma. It's so comically bitchy and spiteful that I wonder if they simply couldn't get the voice actress back for the epilogue.
>>
>>737866248
As someone who always defended the writing in the Devil ending, I like it as an alternative where V actually lives, and actually has at least one person (Misty) tell them, that they have the right to move on from all this and choose whatever they want to be in making a new life
>>
there is one mission in watch dogs legion that is unbelievably good and the rest of the game is legit trash. its one of the craziest quality spikes i've ever seen and then it goes right back down again

one of the villains of the game is a transhumanist scientist who has been working on smart ai stuff, for this mission you find her residence and snoop around inside. its a smart house with an ai voice who controls everything, as you go through the house you start discovering clues about the villain including that her mother was dying so she basically killed her and uploaded her own moms mind into the house to be her personal ai assistant and it gets more fucked up from there

I think the bigger focus is on waking up to the disconnect from everyone and everything you used to know. Your love interest, your apartment, most of your old friends, your livelihood, whatever dream you had making it as a merc, etc. For V it felt like just one night, but it wiped the slate clean on their entire life.

I do think they go out of their way a bit to emphasize the bad more than the potential good of it though. The fact that they included the timeskip at all makes it feel like they were super determined to keep you from getting an easy happy ending out of the deal.

Kerry as a character rubbed me up the wrong way at the start but he's grown on me a lot over time, especially with that Tower ending call. Him ending up liking V as a person and still wanting to continue, and not just because V has Johnny pootling around in his mind is sweet.
