Lords of the Fallen, on sale for $10, is it actually good? I tried the demo, and I felt like it was pretty janky on some choices. I’ve heard that the bosses are secondary to exploration and that it’s closest to DS1 in exploration though.
Its for sure worth 10 dollars, but its still kinda crappy. It zigzags from alright to mediocre to garbage randomly.
>>737862794why cant whiteoids make action games
Skip it.
>>737862998>polacks>whiteoidsoh my god bruv
Would you recommend this, Lies of P, or The Last Berserker? Feel like playing a souls like from a company other than FS
>>737863069Lies of P and Khazan are leagues better than Lords of the Fallen.I'd also recommend Stranger of Paradise and AI Limit.
>>737863069Lords of the Fallen is definitely the worst one of those three, but it has the most content. Depending on the type of gamer you are that can be a greenlight.
>>737863167Cool cool, thanks.
>>737862794>$10Sure, it's pretty decent. They fixed some of the jank but it still is a janky dark souls clone.Exploration is the main focus, but it's mostly because spooky lantern rather than being "close to DS1's exploration". Every area has two versions, the normal one and the spooky one. Some stuff can only be done in spooky world, like spooky platforms and exploring underwater areas, but you need to get out of the spooky world before the reaper finds you.
>>737863069LoP if you like Sekiro+BB, TLB if you like Nioh+Sekiro and Lords if you like das1.
Combat has some interesting ideas, I like how ranged weapons are for example, but it's overall too easy and a bit weird and floaty. I still enjoyed that aspect of it though. Exploration is fairly crazy, areas are very interconnected and more then once I had to go this specific hill and just kinda stare at the terrain to try and figure out what I was missing and where to go next. I personally found the navigation kind of overwhelming, especially with the whole "anything can be hidden in plain sight" with the lamp. There's lot of interconnectivity and short cuts that seem superfluous, but the whole world was designed around the fact that you can turn off all bonfires except the main hub's, it's actually really cleverly done. The game has a bunch of cool stuff for replaying too, various modifiers you can turn on like the no bonfire thing, a built in randomizer, unlockable starting classes and some other options. Very cool features, though I personally didn't want to replay the game so I guess kinda makes it moot.I think for someone who likes the aesthetic and enjoys getting lost/navigating it could be a really excellent game but I'm a moron who's mostly in it for the combat so I didn't enjoy it as much as I could have otherwise. I played it after the big 2.0 update but before the more recent combat patch so it might be a bit different now. Overall I think it's promising even if I found it a little bit dull due to getting lost so badly
>>737863339Wasn’t really a fan of the two world mechanics and the lantern in general in the demo. Good to know that’s what people meant by “exploration”.
>>737863382AI Limit if you like Dark Souls 3i love literally all these games, it's so great enjoying the current popular genre
>>737863382Gotcha. >>737863389I found the combat pretty crappy. I do like getting lost, but the lantern just seemed lame, especially because I found the aesthetic ugly and uninspiring. It was just hard to distinguish anything apart, unlike dark souls where there’s a clear idea on what to do, this just had a bunch of branches and rubble everywhere.
>>737863606It was too metal album cover for me as well but I understand it could be an appeal to the right kind of person. I had a good time throwing hammers at stuff even if it was too easy overall
>>737863542Me too man, having to live through the era of shooters was pain.
>>737863441Lantern is wasted mechanic, you want to stay in Umbral because 90% on the secrets are there
>>737862794>>737863069This is the ones i can recommendLies Of PLords Of Fallen 2.5 they have made a lot of patches and its actually good besides the umbral mechanicWuchangKhazan sucked so much the most uninteresting one imo everything from world, npc to quests felt very generic, I hated it and wish i didnt spend money on that crap. The only good thing about it was the skill tree, but the rest was absolute shit. Oh it also have the worst graphics of all 3 if you like more realistic type of graphics absolutely skip it.
Lantern mechanic pissed me off and I dropped it, wuchang is the only soulslike nonfromsoft game that I like
>>737865946I did the demo for 2.5, I just couldn’t stand how it felt to play. Like sitting at their “bonfires”, why make it a loading screen? Just hide it like FS does, or pressing down on the joystick to look where your character is? It’s this really jarring instant transport, every other game has it just quickly slide to where you’re looking, but in this, one moment you’re looking 180 degrees, then the next frame you're facing forward, very weird. Hitting also just felt off, didn’t sound or feel good, and something about dodging too, the tutorial boss had some weird swings where they looked very nonsensical and I thought I dodged but I guess I didn’t? Don’t know, didn’t die, but it didn’t feel very rewarding or fun either. The lantern was also really clunky and weird to whip out to explore, I dreaded the idea of basically spamming the thing to make sure I explored it all, kinda like people do with Batman vision in the Batman games. So I’m going to skip this one, I’ll check out the sequel when it drops this year though. I’ll go with LoP most likely.
>>737862794You'll be fighting the same enemies across many linear areas for 30 hours. The lantern gimmick doesn't ever really feel fully fleshed out. I'd skip it. If you're looking for exploration, in my opinion, Wuchang exhibits best-in-genre level design and is worth checking out.
