Why don't more AAA devs do this? You have devs like Capcom and Rockstar who can put hundreds of millions of dollars into games, but we almost never see this. Imagine Monster Hunter with this where you can keep slashing away and wounds keeping appearing on their body until it reveals bone, or Halo and Doom where plasma weapons can melt off limbs.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDJTikV_9U0

Yet we have some literal nobody on youtube that messes around with game engines that can do this. The only game I've seen so far that has this kind of tech is dead island 2. Anybody know of more games that do this?
>>
Why are so many gamers violent and depraved? Why can't you just play nice games like Mario?
>>

doesnt nuRE do this to some extent? i thought you can blow off chunks of zombies in a way that feels accurate to how your bullet hits them.

if they gave her a big sharp toothed smile, pretty eyes, and messy hair, i think i'd fall in love with this bloody gory robo
>>
>>737865072
I thought its cuz when a game is gory, its censored in japan so they just dont waste resources focusing on it
>>
probably because most people don't actually enjoy the look of realistic gore

RE2 remake had pretty good gore for the zombies when you shot them.

Why?

Dead Island 2 is definitely the most dynamic gore system I think I've seen.

Half Sword is trying to do a similar layered gore system thing and the physics blood droplets really do look fucking great when they work.

Blood Trail is VR only but had some pretty impressive dynamic mesh deformation for the gore. So very persistent and unique but I think they rewrote the system several times now and it's kinda in dev hell

There's some indie game in the works called Wet Work but I can't find the twitter rn. It's doing a like modern tacticool take on the Soldier of Fortune system but with ragdolls. Looks neat.

And this is pushing it a bit but the old Wolverine game from 2009 had really cool dynamic multilayered decals for enemies and the player, and then you could watch all the flesh grow back in real time on the player. Very underrated action game.

This is my specific autism bro I will add anything else that comes to mind

It's because the vast majority of people aren't psychopaths, Anon.
>>
No demand. Also not something most devs want to work on or be seen working on.
>>

See, the reasons behind this phenomenon are so complex and intricate that the limitations of an image board would not allow me to fully and accurately convey them.
Would you kindly share your address so I could, with your permission, visit you for the purposes of discussing the aforementioned topic? It would take place sometime next saturday, ideally.

Being desensitized to gore makes it easier to turn Americans into soldiers to fight for Israel.
Boobs are bad because jew on a stick worshippers say so
>>
>>737865921
I disagree. A detailed, persistent feedback system is the missing ingredient for many modern games. People still say Max Payne 3 is one of the best TPS ever made but it sucks shit, just the ragdolls and gore make it satisfying
>>
Dead Island 2 had a pretty good system for this, which is about the only good thing I'm able to say about this boring ass game
>>
>>737865072
Tomb Raider 2013 was on the right track with Lara visually keeping most of her damage over time but Rise and Shadow abandoned the concept.
>>
>>737866772
those were just weird ryona death animations, nothing dynamic or player driven at all.

She gets rebar'd through the gut early and survives but keeps that damage throughout the game even clutching her stomach occasionally regardless of full health, she also gets punched in the face repeatedly and keeps the fat lib and nose cut. Also her default outfit gets progressively and permanently more damaged the farther you get into the game various bandages over time that don't go away.

Half Sword and Wet Works looks really good. Hopefully the latter isn't in development hell.

Know of any 2d indies, or maybe even mech games that have dynamic systems like this? Latest I've seen is Noita, or Sulfur with it's two layer sprite system. I'm playing a lot of doom and TBoI clones, and I'm surprised more games don't go beyond canned animations with how simple sprites can be.
>>
This comes sort of out of nowhere but i think metroid prime should get into this in some way or another.

One of the things that bothered me the most about MP4 was seeing that shooting at the enemies made them flash in red like in the old ones. I understand that this was never a problem before and there are much more worrying problems in that game, but as soon as i saw it it made me think that the dev team wasn't taking advantage of the new technology to add new layers of interaction to the game.

And if thats too violent for nintendo then what can I say. It's a game about shooting aliens in their face. If they're uncomfortable with making that too satisfying they indeed have a problem with that franchise. Its weird to make them go poof like in the NES games at this point.

modern mk has the best and most fucked up gore of any vidya. legit looks like a snuff film at times
>>
>>737867721
And if the damage scaled with more powerful beams and missiles, that would make the progression much more satisfying. Like going from a power beam leaving glowing wounds on a pirate to a super missile exploding half a torso.

Too bad the prime games always had ass gunplay. The best part was maybe flinging their ragdolls in the air with the beam combos

For 2D the first thing I thought of is Cortex Command
there's that new furfag game that is in the catalogue which genuinely has a fascinating health system but it's creepy fetish shit. Barotrauma kinda does a similar thing but better imo.

Theres also Crisis Response which was a really cool 2D swat game prototype but it's been abandoned for years now. Still playable but fully dead

I remember testing this out right before the melee update on my old computer that was woefully old (i7-2600k and a gtx980), ran like absolute shit but the gore system was really impressive.
Shame I sold my headset and don't have the space for playing VR anymore, living in an apartment the size of a dog house is hell, but at least I can afford to upgrade my PC and buy vidya.

Wilds already has enough problems as is with it's overly detailed models. And the series still won't let you sever more than tails, and some of the arms of the cephalopods. Damage models like that are never happening, they'd sooner waste dev time on yet another gameplay gimmick no one likes.

Every question like this can beasily awnserd by another question: Will the average retard notice it and will they buy the game even if its not there? The anwser is mostly yes.

We've lived for millenia because of our ancestors that survived combat. Violence is bred into our DNA. We're built to strike our enemies. Video games offer an alternative to said natural urges and allow society to continue without people murdering each other as frequently.

Fantasy reduces behaviors in reality. It's why video game sex bad video game violence good. Less sex irl means less workers, more violence irl has a similar effect.

I have just brought Dead Island 2 Ultimate Edition for £10.44 because of this thread. Cant wait to play it. Cheers
>>
>>737865072
Development of new systems or technologies in videogames isn't a thing anymore. You slap together pre-existing UE5/Unity modules and ship it. Technologically speaking games are less interesting now than they were in 2008.
>>
i tried making a good dismemberment and gore system for a 3D Godot project but gave up. it was so much easier in both unity and unreal, at least back then. could've changed now but i still don't know of any modern Godot projects with great gore systems.

>>737890839
Unit still has that gay system where you need to create a paperdoll for dismemberment? For RPGs if your enemies have custom gear and you want to make that shit appear is a fucking nightmare to solve this

Dead Island 2 had the best gore and destruction system ever made ... and nobody cared.

So why should devs bother?

Because the game is ass otherwise. The gore system is virtually the only thing good about it, it's a straight up downgrade compared to the first game in everything else.

i though its pretty good
sure, its not dying light ... but even dying light 2 isnt as good as dying light

as a dead island 1 successor its great, good visuals, cool maps, great combat and weapons

How do you know? I think there's no way for an individual to realize how wrong they are, I spent my entire youth I was normal but turns out I was schizophrenic, I never saw a problem with myself, all I could gather was that no one liked me and I was misunderstood.
