Okay so I tried it out and in the first area I got a cool toolbox and even some metal claws, I was playing nice and safe and treated the few cuts I got but then I fell and slipped into the level transition and spawned having lost my toolbox and claws. Does anyone have problems with items disappearing. I fell in a hole with a shotgun and was at least looking forward to my expie blowing his brains out, but he passed out and it fucking disappeared. There's not much room to look considering it was a 10 block wide hole.

Any tips for someone who started playing this game recently and has just managed to make it to the second later my last two runs? I feel like I can traverse the first layer pretty safely now that I know how careful I need to be but I don't feel confident going into the second layer, mainly because I feel like I should be crafting more items than I am, but I don't really see how I'm supposed to be able to obtain the necessary materials for anything. My main concern is a light source, I have the starting flashlight, but once that runs out, how am I meant to replace it? I crafted a torch and a firestarter in my most recent one but I can't figure out how to use them, and the torch doesn't seem like it'll be very reliable. I also have no idea how I'm supposed to get 90% condition scrap metal to create a makeshift knife. So far the only thing I know I need that I make every single run is a bag

Never try jumping over a spike trap, trust me. Throw something expendable over it to trigger it and render it harmless. I say expendable because the trap will damage or destroy the item. Destroying a spike trap gives a 100% scrap metal as loot which can be useful.Jump pads cannot be disarmed however.If you're hurting yourself by falling, then know that you can use your mouse to identify terrain in pitch darkness to map out if a blind jump is somewhat safe or not. Carry a glowplant fruit for light, and throw spare glowfruits to illuminate dark holes. The scrap metal item lets you place metal blocks to step on, you can even place them directly below you while falling to stop yourself mid-air, but that's a more advanced technique.For crafting, a foliage bag or two is my priority. Once you have bags, hoarding more foliage is easy to make dressings which should help reduce your odds of dying. I haven't been crafting extensively to be honest, and it's probably to my detriment but I've getting away with not crafting the more complex items. I kill cave crawlers I encounter to get their carcasses to craft a carcass split, because a broken foot is terrible and almost game-ending. You will want fluid containers filled with water, because the later layers seem to have fuck all to drink and thirst is how I died in my last game on layer 5.For speed with the timer enabled, the less time you have left in the layer, then the farther down you should be. I check how much time I have left every now and then. For example if I only have half time left and I'm not halfway through the layer then I know I need to really hurry my slow ass up.
