>Unique offering that no other modern game provides
>Mastered the gameplay loop
>Great selection of maps with very few duds
>Amazing freelancer mode for those who adore the game and have completely mastered all the levels
>Smooth gameplay experience, looks good and has limited bugs

And yet:
>Always online bullshit
>Escalations
>Elusive Targets

I understand the troubles they had with Square Enix and thats why it was online in the first place but why don't they fix that shit already like modders already have. But more importantly why the fuck did they waste so much dev time on Escalations and Elusive Targets that I would bet my house barely anyone plays compared to making new DLC maps that were always high quality and people loved. I know they've been making James Bond game but they had time to make DLC maps for the third game and instead they wasted dev time with those 7 deadly sins escalations. This truly is the monkeys paw franchise.
>>
It's easier to add Escalations into existing maps than to make new maps.
also IOI sure didn't always make very good use of space in the maps they did make. Several of them had dead space that wasn't used for anything. Not main campaign missions, not escalation content.
they had a good idea using existing maps but modifying them a bit, like the Halloween beach mission (talking about unused dead space holy shit that area was half sand) and also the Spring event using the grounds outside the Manor.
also they had a decent idea with having a map reused by set to a different time of day but they really didn't modify the map any to reflect changing it from day->night
>>
>>737874081
All the stuff you listed was good, I liked the other missions set on sapienza but looking at Hitman 3 it's as if they just dropped the main game, added freelancer which no doubt took a ton of work and then just fucked off to do James bond. I genuinely think if you rounded up all the time spent on escalations and poured it into 1 dlc map it would be a better financial decision.
>>

It's still worse than Blood Money in every single way
>>
>>737874661

>>
>>737873759
It's such a good game but holy shit is the always online aspect so annoying for what I do for work, I'm offline more often than not but the push for consoles being online 24/7 makes it damn near impossible for me to enjoy most modern games, there's probably mods out there that adds everything into an offline mode but jesus

>>

>>Escalations
>>Elusive Targets
How are those bad? Just extra, optional challenges to enjoy on top of the base game.
And don't say ETs are FOMO, since you can replay them endlessly in the Arcade mode and they bring them back each year anyway.
And it's not obvious they would be able to make new maps if not for ETs since that's an entirely different team of devs that's required to build new environments who are busy working on the new games.
>>
>>737873759
>Always online bullshit
this has never been a real issue as long as you have 21st century internet service (which is basic human right at this point)
>>
>>737873759
>compared to making new DLC maps that were always high quality and people loved
this always baffled me too. my guess is making even a single map is such a massive project that it's not economically viable compared to just making ETs which is something that takes maybe 1-2 devs, and keeps the slow passive income rolling

IOI are awful on their own
They were NEVER forced by publisher to make always online faggotry. They could remove this at any point and yet they didn't
Not only that, they decided to make FOMO Elusive missions on their own
They keep putting unimmersive celebrities into the game
They are even making FOMO DLCs now which can only be bought during particular time

They were never good, never made their games moddable even, which is why old hitman games don't have a collection of fanmaps like Thief. They always were a soulless company

>I understand the troubles they had with Square Enix
There was no trouble with Square Enix. We're predisposed to side with the 'little guy' dev trying his hardest to make a good game while being beaten down by an evil publisher, but it turned out to be IOI all the way down. That's why when they broke off from SE they started getting even worse. Remember when Hitman 3 launched as Epic exclusive and IOI tried to say it was impossible to transfer your Steam H1/H2 ownership to Epic so you'd simply have to buy it all again, and Timmy had to tell them to fuck off? Their dev team is amazing. Their management and marketing teams are pure fucking evil.

That's some third world internet you got there, my mom in her remote countryside village has better speed.

Also I download heavy assets all the time (direct downloads not p2p), my connection never goes down or I'd need to restart the downloads all over again constantly. Happened I think twice in 7 years or so.
But I still get disconnected from time to time when I'm playing Hitman.
It's not a dealbreaker but it happens, and it's the only online game I play that kicks me out for connection issues. Which is paradoxical because it's single player.
I don't give a shit about your moving goalposts or unmotivated shilling for a game that's years old at this point, this is my experience with it and it's the only criticism I can think of becase otherwise it's excellent.

I'm not finished my Hitman marathon yet. Playing 2 SA and I'll be working my way up the series whilst also SA ranking every level.
So far the game has been pretty good but the level Hidden Valley was so fucking terrible that it almost soured the game. Since i could not Silent Assassin rank it and i don't care what people show on their youtube playthoughs because it's all random bullshit. Luckily the mission after At the Gates whilst still being kind of mediocre wasn't as punishing. However it led to a good build up in the final theme series level Shogun Showdown that sort of ended the Japan series on a high note after the other snowy missions in general. Cool level. Super hard but lots of fun. I just finished Basement Killing and kept overthinking how to solve the Silent Assassin rank challenge when it turns out to be simpler than my over complicated thinking led me to believe.
But that's not my fault since Tubeway Torpedo encourages that kind of thinking when they gave you a phone and a pager. Thinking outside the box is rewarded like that sometimes. It's good so far. I'm looking forward to getting around to Contracts to see the better implementations of what i saw in C47. And eventually all of the newer ones.

Also bump i guess.
Some levels i might need to revisit to see how to not get 1 alerts on. Usually its just the assassination method that causes it in every scenario where i did it. But even for loud methods i always had a stealthy approach to it. Say for example in this level just arming a bomb next to the target then walking straight back to the exit setting it off and insta mission end. Never waiting around long enough for guards to figure out what happened.

Chongqing feels so weird in Freelancer because it's difficulty in normal mode is scaled to feel like a boss battle, and since you're always going to get a bastard in floor -3 in the ICA facility it's such a slow sluggish affair. I would like to see it reworked a little bit for freelancer.
