The game was so good that it managed to excuse almost every single bit of legitimate criticism for the game and STILL cemented itself as one of the best soulslikes around, especially for the time. Not only that, it also has the allure of not realising its full potential: The Chalice Dungeons ended up neutered due to coding problems, Playstation Online ruined the multiplayer, and it STILL kicked ass. It was a massive change from the themes and messages Miyazaki normally used for his games, and he absolutely nailed it.

I am the guy they keep re-releasing it for. I will always buy it. I dont care. Realistically speaking, I have purchased the game 6 times just for myself, and 3 other times as a gift to someone. With all that said -It really is the most overrated game. Probably competing with RDR2, Witcher 3, Half Life 2, Gen 1 Pokemon, and GTA V. Just because some autists like me play it religiously, doesnt really mean it is the GOAT. Combat being mechanically boring is the biggest issue to most folks I have spoken to. It is just so completely overhyped for what it realistically is.

There will never be a game like Bloodborne ever again and few people are realizing this depressing fact.
Still the second best after the original Dark Souls. Has its problems like most of the bosses not being especially great and being mostly pretty easy, but still a grand time and has the best art direction. I think it's fair to criticize certain unfinished elements like the chalice dungeons though.
