Now that the dust has settled, why was it so much better than Fallout 3 and New Vegas?
>red rocket
It focused on being a video game rather than a faggy visual novel
Nuh uh
This game was 9/11 for Massachusetts anons. I remember visiting Concord and feeling my heart drop into my spleen seeing the completely random architecture that has nothing to do with it.
>>7378976121. Actual power armors that are physical objects you enter/exit, rather than F3/NV power armors being Elder Scrolls armors2.It has actual god-tier, mandatory mods, most famous one being Sim Settlements 23.Far Harbour is some of the finest content Bethesda ever put out (because no Emil involved)4.The followers are great and have character5.Obviously far better controls and shooting and weapon customizationYes the story is shit (too much urgency for my taste), almost nonsensical, voiced protagonist is meh, but overall I don't see myself going back to the janky, clunky broken era of Fallout games (3 and NV)To be honest I don't care about story in games at all these days, anyone who bitch and whine about story in a game is a faggot of the worst kind to me
>>737898058>Actual power armors that are physical objects you enter/exit, rather than F3/NV power armors being Elder Scrolls armorsThis alone makes it the best modern Fallout game period.
>>737898229These knee gaps look horrendous
the map progression is very good. the combat, enemy ai, and weakpoints are all good now. i really like the crafting depth giving value to the junk items.
>>737897671Uh oh3 jeets and NV troons are not gonna like this…
Fallout 4 should be contrarian pick because it's way worse that Fallout 3 Or maybe even go beyond it and claim 76 to best Fallout
>>737897612>why was it betterBecause the Institute is a based faction that was written so well it puts Disco:Elysium to shame
>>737900582This, but unironically
>>737897612/v/ isn't ready for that discussion just yet
>>737897612bump
I should give it a shot. When it was released I watched my little brother playing and as an RPG it seemed a little bland but the gameplay was obviously better than 3, which I'm replaying right now and I think the game is overall worse than I remembered from release, and as a RPG is rather mediocre.
>>737897612>Now that the dust has settled, why was it so much better than Fallout 3 and New Vegas?
>>7379046233 jeet or NV tranny?Call it
>>737904513the 3d fallouts are first person shooters and not RPGs. that's why 4 is the only half decent one
>>737897612it isn't. you just liked it more
>>737904813ThisRetard OP just had way more fun on the good game than on the shit games
>>737904513i really enjoy the feel of 3 and nv's gameplay
>>737904717neither, but you fallout 4 fags won't get what I'm saying, because you'd have to know how to read.
>>737897612Storywise is plain shit, gameplay and exploration is peak, though.
>>737904906anon, only the gameplay is more fun in 4 than the other 2 games. doesn't make 4 the better game
>>737905112Kek thisFallout 4 is just qualityslop. They only like it because it's good
>>737905112it does, because gameplay is king
Fallout 4 marks the growing division between the action RPG gamers and the more orthodox RPG gamers who wish to keep closer to the cRPG roots. This divide hit its hardest around skyrim and has been driving the wedge deeper ever since. It has its merits but the design philosophy is just fundamentally different from 3 and NV entirely, choosing sleek action, exploration, and moment to moment gameplay over player choice, immersion, and questing. They really share nothing in common besides name and lore, and this is how you create these fanbase schisms.Fallout is fucking gay btw where's ES6 Todd
>>737905207exactly, and it is pretty good. just not better than 3 and new vegas. I'm glad we can agree
>>737905338no singular element can be king when it comes to games. multiple systems need to come together if a game is to be seen as better than another. and that simply is not the case for fallout 3 and 4 when compared to new vegas
>>737897612I´m on the verge of giving this another chance. Last time it took me like 50 hours just to make it to Diamond City. Lost myself exploring and getting into trouble with dogmeat. Story advanced like a crawl pace because of that... i really can´t be convinced to give a shit about synths though.
>>737905772You need to play Kino Harbor.
>>737905772you played it the correct wayyour next playthrough should be with an alternate start mod, along with a dozen more to give you more exploration and trouble
>>737897612I enjoy survival mode and settlement building, but the latter could have been much more deep. I think it was a mixture of fear of overcomplication and laziness, especially with how settlers themselves behave. But these systems meld really well with how the difficulty of the map is structured; you can set up safehouses, supply transport, and general protection on the roads with how you form your supply lines. Looting trash in an effort to fund all this and improve your gear feels really good in this game. The only good DLC is automaton. Even then, the quest is pretty whatever. Fah Habah feels like it's gonna be good when you ride in, but then you get even more retarded writing than in the base game. Nuka World has been beaten to death over the years, rightfully so.Overall, both 3 and NV are just better, more focused games. I prefer NV.
>>737906294>and settlement building, but the latter could have been much more deepUse Sim Settlements 2You'll thank me later
>>737906373I've tried SS1 back in the day. I didn't care for it at all. Also I probably won't even come back to Fallout for a very long time.
