>>737911117remnant 2's apocalypse difficulty mode, final boss rolled the Tough,Skullcracker and Regenerate modifiers, so it had stupidly high defense, dealt so much damage that any hit would one shot, and was constantly regenerating health so any moment that wasnt constant DPS the regen would just erase your progress.worth it for the black hole gun and the laser minigun from the first game but it was such an ordeal that it killed my ability to enjoy that game for a while, i'll still wholeheartedly recommend the base game to people but maybe not the max difficulty run.

Shadow of the Beast for Genesis, the US version, on original hardware. The game was designed for PAL 50 hz, and no correction was done for NTSC US making the game stupid hard by running 16% faster on top of the already frustrating eurojank. Interestingly this was all fixed for the Japanese version, making that one much better experience.

And while not related to the difficulty, you might check out Stoat Soup instead of the main branch. Main's devs have only gotten more and more No Fun Allowed over the years, while Stoat aims to stay sort of current but also reverses a lot of the content removal. Don't be afraid to use a super-obvious race/class combo with perfect synergy, either. A clear's a clear, and you only need three runes to beat the game.
