At what point is building your own town worthwhile? The amount of resource management to keep your entire squad functioning while also dealing with bandit raids and other annoying encounters makes it feel impossible.

You don't really need to defend your base if you have nothing worth stealing (food) because enemies only break doors open iirc. You should probably have the research for food growing and processing, bandages, water and walls you can build mounted guns on. Having a pack animal to carry all the supplies helps. >>737920963If you rush turrets and walls then you can fend off a lot of stuff early with weak guys unless you are in an endgame zone. it depends on what you want to do if its worth it even then though .If you just want to store stuff or craft then you can do that by buying a building in a town and then you dont have to worry about defence. Some zones are nice and peaceful and good for automation set ups you could automate alchohol production while playing with your real squad.The main reason to build outside of town is to farm an area in some way, with actual farms, or bringing a crafting station to a good animal spawn or baiting raids. for example beak things cant go in small buildings and go to sleep so you could theoretically build a stormhouse right in the middle of beak thing valley and put turrets on it then farm their leather, turn it into high quality armor, and get rich that way. Actually one time i did a roleplay run of just being a leather armor crafter and farmed swamp raptors for leather and got rich that way.overall though base management out in the world is entirely optional and it starts feeling like a bit of a job if you are in a dangerous spot managing a dozen jobs and people.

You can send a smuggler into a town with his pockets and bags full of drugs but you'd need a couple guys or a pack animal to move enough big stuff to make a trip worthwhile and animals in general need a fuckload of food.

>>737920963Use mercenaries. After you build your build immediately send somebody to the surrounding waystations and towns and hire a few groups of mercs to guard your base. They can handle raids if you built in an easier area like the hub. Also I wouldn't build a base until I have everything researched that doesn't require ancient science books, you can research in a town, Squin is good, my favorite is the tower at the waystation in the black desert.

>>737920963Depends, if you use mercenaries and have a good chokepoint, you can start a game and pretty much immediately build a town with just the free NPCs. The mercs will carry you until you can set up turrets, and even weak characters on turrets will defend well enough.

It's an autism trap game, so I'm not surprised you feel that way.You can mod it to be as easy or as difficult as you want, but generally a decent start is to run into Bast or the Okran's Shield checkpoint to scavenge higher quality gear and sell it for money. If you want to grind toughness my advice is to go to Port North at the top of the north eastern desert, get enslaved, escape and then get into fights while still wearing the shackles. You'll stumble over and get into a KO state where you can try to wake up while surrounded and power level it up (you can also do that with cybernetic legs by taking off the leg while you're fighting). Just don't go picking fights with cannibals or slavers and you'll be okay. Keep a 2nd character to heal you if you insist on fighting anyone with bladed weapons early on.

You also don't need to fight every random thing you see as soon as you start the game. Go explore and maybe you'll encounter a skirmish somewhere where you could then loot gear from the losers.

Iron rocks wont do it.past 50 STR you need massive amounts of weight.So in conclusion training a hand to hand martial artist is boring as fuck, going Katana is way more fun. Holy Sword start and there you go. Nodachi Skelleton Smiths Forged tier 1 to 3 depending on your luck. Each is 33.3% chance something like that. So just roll a 1/3 and get the tier 1 Nodachi roll.
