Although endgame is a dumpster fire of drama and boring scheduled content, leveling in parties is great (and also where FFXI shines). There's always friendly people willing to help out in that chunk of the game.

After years of retail at 75 era and private server play, I can say: fuck lua scripting that auto changes your gear for every action and scenario. If it's not built into the game, it's gay. I felt like I had to do it to keep up, but it certainly wasn't fun. It didn't feel right either.
