Perfection.

>>737919306
t. baby hands manlet
>>
the ps2 had a much better controller zoom zoom zoomie
>>
>>737919306
Don't really understand why they couldn't have left this design the default controller
>>
>>737919398
Arent they pretty much the ssame?
>>
>>737919306
>shitty rough texture on the dpad that hurts fingers if you’re playing a platform
>made for Japanese hand physiognomy only
>triggers slip if you’re not careful
Yea I’m thinking we leave this one behind, DualShock 4 deserves the title of perfection.
>>
>>737919404
sixaxis lawsuit pretty much ruined dualshock forever and sony is trying to separate from it ever since.
>>
>>737919306
Back buttons are nice though

I think the DualSense is better, but this is an acceptable choice too
>>
>>737919306
Too small. The 360 controller mogged it to hell.
>>
About 50% of the people I knew with ps3s had extenders on those shitty ass triggers
>>
>>737919519
>dualshock 4
>>
>>737919404
The ps3 version was pretty hated. Ps4 pad is pretty close with better grips
>>
>>737919306
It really was amazing to me.
>Indestructible
The amount of times I've chimped out at games on the PS3 and spiked or thrown my controller over for it to bounce right back up off the floor or wall and work 100% perfectly fine.
>Battery life
I swear I would charge that shit once a week and play able to play non-fucking stop without having to charge it.

Compare this shit with the DS4 or even the DualSense and these newer controllers are just fucking pathetic. I like the DualSense haptic feedback and shit but my god is the battery life FUCKING PATHETIC AS FUCK. And both the PS4/PS5 controllers are fragile as fuck. I feel like if I just squeezed the shit too hard it would fucking shatter to a million pieces. Compared to the DS3 which I could probably drop off a roof and it'd still work.
>>
something broke off and rattles around inside my sixaxis
only ps controller that did that to me
>>
>>737919306
>put it down on a table
>the triggers just press in because fuck you
>>
>>737919306
>horns that don't contour a human hand
How the fuck do you hold this? I'm an adult, not a 3 year old child.
>>
Remember what they took from you..
>>
pretty much if only there was a way to get one brand unopened I tried and got a bootleg
>>
ps2 controller was better
>>
>>737921485
the battery life is because the ps2 controller polled at a rate of 146 to 200 hz. usually by default at 146 or so.
Polling is basically it drawing power to check for input and calculate shit (if the hardware has to do anything like that)

So the more you poll, the higher the power draw.
modern shit tends to poll way faster and if it does anything else on top of that requiring constant data flow, it draws more and more power.
lowering your battery life.

for example, a PS4 controller (wireless, specifically) averages something like 750hz

so the ps4 by a bare minimum is spending 5x the power on polling.

wired shit meanwhile, even now, tends to cap out at 250hz.
wierd stuff.

>parents call me out to "fix their movie" for the dozenth time because they keep hitting R2 and getting it stuck in fast forward
i bought them the official ps3 remote after a while of that
>>
>>737919306
the sticks on my dualshock 3 controllers feel very loose. is it easy to restore them?
>>
>>737919478
>hurts fingers
how fucking frail are you
>>
Why do old ps2/ps3 controller sticks get that weird residue on them?
>>
>>737919306
i've used the ds3 for years on PC but i hate the stupid fucking gun trigger L/R2 buttons.
>>
>>737919808

By who?
>>
>>737922215
Your not supposed to hold like your black boyfriends penis your supposed to fingertip grip it
>>
>>737922597
I don't know why you're talking about the PS2/wired controllers when we're talking about the Dualshock 3...which was a wireless controller.

There's no good reason for L2 and R2 to be convex rather than concave. There's a reason the DS4 onward changed this.

Though there are cheap add-ons which can fix this
>>
>>737922210
The best change from PS3 to PS4.
>>
>>737923721
It's not residue, it's the fake leather/soft plastic that was used at the time degrading and getting sticky. Eventually it will completely dissolve away.
>>
>>737919398
It's kind of an edge case but I always thought the pressure sensitive buttons on the DS3 were better than the DS2.
But I like R2/L2 being buttons over the shitty DS3 triggers.
>>
>>737919443
I swear even the material on DS2 and DS3 are different from each other
>>
>>737919519
Why not make clawing easier instead?

I really want to play a game that uses the middle scheme. I don't remember ever seeing one, pretty much every game seemed to use the left.
>>
>>737919306
Over time, it gets random inputs if you're too rough with the d pad motions. Apparently it's because of biodegradable parts inside of something.

Genuinely why I'm looking at the Steam Controller
>>
>>737925261
got my controllers mixed up.
That makes it even better though.
the ps3 dualshock polling rate was even lower.
84-89hz.
its using half the power I was talking about the wired one using.
>>
>>737923942
>your supposed to fingertip grip it
For what purpose? Every other brand designs a controller that feels better. Why would I use a fucking dualshock?
>>
>>737919306
If only it was a bit bigger. Like my dick.
>>
>>737926341
Ok well that makes sense why that shit felt like it lasted an eternity before I had to charge it. And also like I said it was practically indestructible, especially for a controller that was so light in weight, you'd think it break more easily and yet I've literally spiked PS3 controllers and had them work flawlessly afterwards. I feel like if I even breathe on modern controllers they'd shatter, shit sucks. And also not mention the shit battery life, which doesn't matter as much since I usually played wired any way but still.
>>
>>737926462
yeah and the more modern shit you stack on newer stuff the more shit it has to poll and draw power from.
have a trigger/button measuring how much you press it? (haptics and the like) thats eating a LOT of power, especially at higher poll rates.

its a math game with diminishing returns and people basically traded for minor gains in latency by paying a massive power sink, when combined with some of the fancier new stuff.
>>
>>737922291
I remember as a kid back in my day, seeing that futuristic lookin PS3 and that hyperfuturistic boomerang controller, it was the greatest thing I ever saw and my hype was uncontrollable.
> t. mid 30s zillennial unc
>>
>>737926717
To be fair though the haptics and adaptive triggers are fucking nice though. I just wish you could turn off the LED bullshit. Or even just outright disabled/enable the microphone (not just mute) to save power. I mean I almost always played wired so it's not a problem but there are some scenarios where I play wireless because I'm playing from my bed and the controller usually dies pretty fucking fast. I would honestly give up the LED shit, microphone, and even the touch pad if it meant I got an extra 4-5 hours of battery life.
>>
>>737919306
>shit stick layout

The shitty PS3 controller is the whole reason

>put control down

meme exists in soulslop. It's a horrible perversion of Ken Kutaragi's vision
>>
>>737919306
DS2 is the perfect controller. This one is fine too.
>>
>>737925804
>Why not make holding the controller wrong easier instead?
Because it's retarded.
>>737925959
It's because analog stick camera controls are bad.
>>737927680
None of the generation names mean anything, it's always "Thing I don't like".
Boomers will always be the out-of-touch oldfags that ruined everything, Millennials will always be the quippy hipsters that ruined everything, Zoomers will always be brain-rotted phoneposters that ruined everything and Gen X will [Footage Missing].

The triggers on this piece of shit get pushed down when you put the controller down for any reason.

>>737919306
Nah it was mediocre at best.
Feels cheap and creaks, the sticks were an afterthought on the original PlayStation design and are too close together, turning L2/R2 into triggers was also an afterthought.
>>
>>737919478
How is the DS4's trackpad+gyro mouse+keyboard emulation?
>>
>>737925836
This controller was so stupid in hindsight when you realize the stick could have easily been placed to the left side of the controller like with most controllers today outside of maybe some fringe unknown chink gimmick shit I guess.
