I just got this and it's fun as fuck. Found a way to play the visual novel it's based on after a lot of bullshit searching, but yeah idk. I just think it's fun. Why is this one of the only fighters with a dedicated following on steam? Teach me your ways faggolas
i think most melty fans just play MBAACC these days, i think TL was kinda poorly recieved on lunch
>>737920096nope. consistantly higher numbers. I was watching it for a while before I bought it on sale. I got fucked and bot the complete edition but was too addicted to the game to stop and return it and wait to get the deluxe edition instead. oh well. really is fun on the arcade stick though
>>737920170You're looking at SteamDB aren't you. Everyone plays MBAACC's community edition
I wish Nanaya wasn't stuck as an install.
>>737921380well fuck ok. downloading it now. I just got the remake of the vs that is conencted to lumina I think? but Ill play this one after
>>737920053>Why is this one of the only fighters with a dedicated following on steam? It is?
>>737922010He'll become his own character after he gets to show off in Red Garden never ever
>>737922438Yeah, Type Lumina and A Piece of Blue Glass Moon share their own universe separate from the original game and older Melties.
>>737920170it had a really intrusive autocombo system, stripped out the horror aesthetic for generic anime and added characters from outside the franchise instead of fan favorites. i sold ok for a niche fighting game but really failed to appeal to either hardcore fans or casual new players despite having pretty strong brand recognition.
>>737920053Type Lumina is weird where it's surprisingly easy to just hop online and get a match, but you can try the same thing with much more popular games and not get anything. It's fun enough that people will just play it and not care how popular it is.
>>737924793what about the MBAACC community edition? are there earlier visual novels that one is based on? I literally have no idea what this is but I liked the fighting game and am playing the visual novel now, the writing is very good, but I know nothing, I need a qrd
>>737924931Tsukihime (original Tsukihime) is the source material for original Melty Blood, Act Cadenza, Actress Again, and Actress Again Current Code. A Piece of Blue Glass Moon is basically a reboot, largely its own thing rather than a straight-up remake. I've only played that one, so I can't speak for the original Tsukihime, but from what I gather, it was good aside from some cringe writing during sex scenes. (Shiki does get laid once in A Piece of Blue Glass Moon but it's not vividly told)I want to play the OG, but I'm still in VN burnout mode after how long Blue Glass Moon took me. (I'm a painfully slow reader)
>>737925134thanks for that. where can you find the original?
>>737924841>i sold ok for a niche fighting gameIt's the most successful game FB ever made in terms of sales. Despite my gripes with the game, that fact is undeniable. >>737925287You can actually play the entire OG VN on your browser.
>>737925343where at? and am I doing a disservice by starting with a piece of glass moon and type lumina?
>>737925385nta buthttps://tsukiweb.holofield.fr/
>>737925385They're different things, best treated as their own separate continuities as the creator intends.
>>737924931>are there earlier visual novels that one is based on?It's Tsukihime. That came out in like 2000 and Melty Blood is based on that. There's a sort of remake Tsukihime and Type Lumina is based on that. You'll recognize a lot of the same people in both.
>>737924931https://www.readtsukihi.me/Theres also a manga and an anime. The manga is good, the anime sucks.
>>737924931>>737925552Theres also multiple Melty Blood mangas too.
>>737925385If you already started the remake you may as well keep going and read the original after, it's significantly shorter and also has the three routes the remake is missing right now
>>737921380>Everyone plays MBAACC's community editionIf by everyone, you mean two people who aren't even playing each other, then sure
>>737925671It's not wildly populated but you'll definitely get more people responding to an AACC lobby than an MBTL lobby.
>>737925638They also have different secondary villains.I wonder if Nero will come back in red garden
>>737925714Depends if Nasu decides to use that old prototype concept for his hypothetical Satsuki route where Nero and Roa team up.Not so sure if that will happen right now.
>>737925707You mean if you post a thread on /v/?Or do you mean if you make a discord and join some shitty community?
>>737925785BothAACC gets higher entrants in tournaments than MBTL does.
>>737920053type lumina at even mid level play is a miserable, frustrating experience, don't play this game
>>737925671no one uses public lobbies, unfortunately the caster is a little jank and people tend to want to stick to fighting people they know they can connect to well, or at least people they can talk to and coordinate. It's more popular than it looks, judging by tournament entrants it's as or more popular than TL so there's probably similar amounts of people in p2p or private matches at any given time, but it is a discord fighter because sadly there's no good way to get opponents other than finding people yourself. Not that TL is much better, in either game if you want actually good matches you're better off setting them up yourself outside the game.
