I finally started this game and reached Chapter 3. So many tutorials popped up and the game seems massiveDo you guys have any general tips and advice? Also Xenoblade X thread I guess
do not let her shower.you'll understand op
Take your time, you don't need to be aware of every system right away. There used to be clear priorities to make things more convenient in the Wii U version but the Definitive Edition streamlined all of that. My only suggestion at this point is to explore and plant probes to get started on adding fast travel locations. You can then slowly work on taking quests and engaging with systems such as equipment, classes and FrontierNav. Remember that the vast majority of the game and its real core is the side content, even most of the party members are optional.>>737934420Oh yeah, there will be sidequests with different options that significantly change the outcome for some NPCs for the rest of the game. You may want to check a guide to know what you're getting into once you see one, or just go blind and trust your gut.
>>737933646The areas aren't level-gated, so watch your ass or you'll get raped by a lvl 90 monkey right out of the gate. Also, doing sidequests will level you up way past what the main quests require, so watch out for that. Also, don't let her shower.
Does Switch 2 edition still have fucked graphics in handheld mode?
>>737933646did you kill the pigs?i hope you killed the pigs
>>737934623>Also, doing sidequests will level you up way past what the main quests require, so watch out for that.Should I prioritize the main story then?
>>737934989don't know how other people feel, but imo no. the side quests are the real meat of the game anyway. just take the game at your own pace and do the main quests when it feels natural, don't force it. the game is really about exploration so just let it unfold, any real challenge is in the endgame anyway.
>wahhh I want big Gundam nowwwwwYeah, 50 hours in faggot.
>>737935132who are you quoting?
>>737933646>Do you guys have any general tips and advice?Keep an eye on your class level and change class once you reach max level. Once you complete a branch of the class tree, you'll be able to use its weapons and associated arts even on an other class.Go at your own pace, don't rush the main story.Named NPC sidequests are worth the detour. You'll need a certain % completion of every region to progress the story, so make sure you keep an eye out for what each map node needs to be fulfilled. Decoy is a fucking busted OP buff.
>>737935191Awwww did a lost rabbit come here from their bunny burrow? You know what to do :)>who are you quotingKek
>>737935307are you ok?
>>737933646>Take your time because the npcs actually update very often>Give everyone armors with treasure hunter>Don't be afraid of going into the wrong class, every path has the tools to clear the game>Don't get ganged up, the battle system isn't designed for that, you'll just die instantly>Don't be a metafag, you might skip a playstyle you'd like by just beelining to dual gun. It's not that you shouldn't use it, but try to explore other options as well.
How is the game on emulation? I had this for the wii u but lost it in a house fire. The music was top tier
>>737934652Yes. >>737938548It's near perfect. There's 60fps mods but they are not well made and cutscenes fuck up so I just stuck with the 30fps.
>>737938753nice, 35% downloaded, can't wait to jump back in.>Hello>Is this thing on>I need a bigger gun
>>737933646It's often worth to wait for secondary cd and or soul voice that to bust your nut straight away
>>737933646Is the Switch 2 upgrade worth it? I heard it has some graphical issues but iirc those were only on handheld and I exclusively play docked.
>>737934989no. The entire point of the game is side quests. The main story is just something that carries you through it and kinda sucks except for plot points to make side quests more interesting. This is the only open world game where you actually want to do side quests. You won't feel OP based on level alone, considering you don't know the game's systems yet, level will be enough to get you by but you won't destroy everything unless you know what you're doing
This shot was necessary.
>>737939080damn forgot it had girls like that in the game, are there any pube mods
>>737938863If you only play docked then I'd say it's worth it, yeah.
>>737939109Nah, just uncensor mods.
>>737933646The defence value of armor is extremely misleading. Your total defence is just a single number taken away from enemy damage, so if an enemy does 10k damage and you have 500 defence, the attack does 9.5k instead, which obviously isn't very useful.Pay heavy attention to attribute resistances instead, as these are percentage mitigations. For example, if you have 50 electric resistance and get hit by an electric attack that does 10k damage, it instead becomes 5k. This is a huge thing to learn especially around level 30 or so when basic gear upgrades don't really do much.Gear augments are also much more important than the defence they give. Someone has already mentioned treasure sensor which increases the likelihood of higher quality loot, but things like potential up for TP arts, art damage up, accuracy up, arts TP gain, and when you unlock Overdrive count up and time up are very valuable.
>>737933646My only tip is do NOT take Hope's recruitment quest early game, it's a trap
>>737933646>Do you guys have any general tips and advice?Ground weapon drops from enemies are generally limited to the ones used by your active party member's classes, so if you're hoping for a certain drop bring party members that use the same weapon typeMake sure to upgrade your arts and skills as soon as you can, the cooldown reductions make combat much faster and the Switch/2 versions let you refund the points for a small amount of money so you can use them again when you switch classesPlay with the online mode turned on if you have it, you'll end up getting free reward tickets just from other players completing the tasks, which you can use to make good augments for your gear. Even if you don't have online mode you can still get a few reward tickets each day for basically doing nothing just by checking the menuDamage resistances are much more important than your defense stat when it comes to actually reducing damage, if you're having trouble with a boss look at what damage types it does and change your armor to something that resists itAt higher levels you'll start running into enemies that reflect certain damage types so you'll eventually want to get some weapon augments that negate it so you don't end up 1shotting yourself
>>737933646Get up.Don't look back.Shoot them, with your gun.Get up.Don't look back.Shoot them all the power you've got.
>>737940135I ran all the way to Cauldros. It's fun. The game still doesn't expect you to do it as early as it unlocks and the cutscene at the end of it casually spoils a major twist if you do. Wasn't rectified in DE either.
>>737941248I mean it's not that hard to do, it's just very tedious to go all the way there early without a Skell just to recruit Hope who isn't even a good party member
>>737933646One thing I always like to recommend to new players is to go explore Cauldros on foot before you get a Skell. The whole map is designed in "size layers" that make it feel completely different when you're in or out of a Skell, but Cauldros in particular is like a completely different area.
>>737934989Most main story chapters are a single short cutscene or event that blends into everything else (in your memory, I mean). When people say that the side missions are the real meat of the game, they mean it. The main story events are only a tiny slice of the game's story, you'll be disappointed if you focus on it.
>>737933646Hope you didn't buy the switch 2 version, it's notoriously terrible-looking thanks to a bad AI upscaling filter. Also both versions of the definitive edition are massively dumbed down compared to the original and remove most strategy from the game because you're always swimming in resources and EXP. They didn't think anything through. This used to be a challenging game but now it's just a button masher if you don't restrict yourself in a million ways.
>>737939080So was this one.
>>737939080This one too.
>>737933646Worth playing at least once but temper your expectations for the gameplay when it becomes pic related, the gameplay really sucks once you unlock overdrive.Skells are fun visually but their gameplay was even less interesting.I suppose if you are easily impressed none of these things will matter for you so have fun.
>>737934989Level doesn’t actually matter, only equipment, but at the start you don’t have all the tools to trivialize certain encounters. The game is very rock papers scissory where sometimes something will fuck you up badly and you won’t understand why right away and othertimes it will be the opposite but you still won’t understand why.
>>737933646Only do this if you want your character to have two alien girlfriends: When you get to the Chapter 11 quest Definian Downfall, make sure you choose to kill Fortun, this will unlock a follow up quest in Chapter 12 called Definian Love. Also, while the alien species is all female, they will take on the appearance of a gender that's the opposite of your character, which also becomes set in stone once you complete Definian Downfall. You will later have the opportunity to remodify your character in Chapter 5 if you want them to be a certain gender.
borin gamenothing to doyou have WHOLE NEW WORLD and you do shitty quests, some of them unlocks like, 2 new aliens. dunno how this game ends, i played for like, 10 chapters and nothing happened.besides, this game is too easy.
>>737939392is the one on gbatemp that changes the names the only uncensor mod?
>>737945839Manon, Nopon, Orpheans, Wrothian, Prone (Tree and Cave clans), and Zaruboggans. 6 new alien races will join your city (7 if you include the seperate prone clans that both are treated as seperate recruitment missions). All of them affect Los Angeles and add a new tree of interconnected quests. It is perhaps the best feature of X that sets it apart from most RPGs.
>>737946991Oh fuck and I still forgot Definians so it is in fact 7-8 races
Pretty funny how X threads are always the only Xenoblade threads that aren't just MEMES AND PORN spam
>>737947095Hmmm?! Are you underestimating me, young nephew?
>>737947167I said they aren't JUST that, not that it never happens. Any thread about 1-3 is literally just memes and porn, like a Pokefag thread. It's embarrassing
>>737933646unlike most RPGs, your level is not the primary determinant of your power. Augments are. Filling all 5 pieces of armor with even cheap and low tier augments that increase your potential stat is enough to increase it by an amount that is equivalent to 50 levels.Potential Stat = Healing and TP Art damageMelee Attack = damage from non-TP Art Melee attacksRanged Attack = damage from non-TP art Ranged attacksPick one of these three attack stats and focus your load out on maximizing one of them. Also plan to have some sort of defensive strategy as well, whether it is someone tanking, abusing ghostwalker to evade, ect.You can go pretty much everywhere whenever from pretty relatively early on, and all areas have a mix of low and high level enemies, so stay on your toes and stay aware of your environment, you never know when a level 80 monkey might be around the corner.
>>737933646I was a newcomer to the Xenoblade franchise when I played XCXDE for the first time when it came out, so I'm not exactly the person to be giving veteran advice on it. But what I can say is just to play it slowly, it's a very, very big game with lots of stuff to do. Also, from my experience there isn't exactly an obvious way to get massively overpowered, so just go at it patiently. Also, fuck the endgame gridan, that shit is just mind numbing and not worth the time. The best thing about the game is the vibe, it's amazingly atmospheric, and getting to know the characters is a fun, fun time. Don't overthink the sidequests though some are definitely consequential (just kill the fucking pigs), but other than that there isn't much to say. The whole game is a never ending tutorial, the many gameplay systems can be extremely obscure, the combat honestly isn't that fun, high level enemies are essentially HP sponges and the endgame bosses are a mix of RNG plus you needing to do very specific dance in order to actually defeat them, also the resource economy is a gridan nightmare... but what matters is you fully immersing yourself in that world. Planet Mira evokes a really great sense of wanderlust.
>>737933646EVERYTIME I ASK FOR THE SMALLEST THING
What does Xenoblade 4 have to do to top the previous games for you?
>>737935510Welcome to all xenoblade threads. Take your designated schizo and be seated quietly.
>>737938753How is it on AMD cards? The Switch Xenoblade games suck fucking dick on AMD. There is no "near perfect", its a complete mess with XBC2 and 3.
>>737949881Return Skells/Gears as the main combat mechanic
>>737949881Dialogue choices in quests change how the MC reacts in cutscenesFor example: you can choose to help person A or B, where A has the better reward but B is the more moral choice (let's say defending a soldier or a random villager during an enemy attack). Picking A makes MC more selfish and B makes them more selfless. I guess *kinda* like the paragon/renegade style from Mass Effect
>>737933646The game is full open world and you can travel anywhere you can reach on foot in the entire game world at this point, and you really should, the exploration in the game is at its best imo when you’re still weak and stuck on foot and running from everything and feeling the scale of Mira
Did they fix the upscaled switch2 version?
>>737950515No updates since it came out.
>>737950515nope, but if you zoom in the same amount on XC3, you can see it has the same exact kind of shit going on- it's just covered up because the resolution is so fucking low.
Lol I wrote something about xenoblade on 4chan and chatgpt referenced it to me. Like it clearly read my post and used it to form its opinion on the subject. Thats so fucking weird, fuck off gpt. You’re a fucking bitch.
>>737949881In General:>retain the movement of XBX, insofar as running, jumping, and lack of fall damage>give a Hreasvelg-like vehicle to ride in lategame and clear the maps in seconds flat over the skies>strong character-focused side-stories and sidequests in a similar manner to X>armor system of XB1, with X's fashion gear system, with a streamlined gem crafting/equip system like 1 has>dual-weapon battle system of X, artes loadout of X and 1, aquatic combat like 3 had>strong use of color like 2 boasted>give Saito a rest, get a new artistTo beat 1, X, and 2:>give a strong story that rewards you for getting invested in the character relationships>have the setting be something that rewards you for investing in it, either be it great substories, watching the world grow, etc., but something that makes the time feel worth itTo beat 3:>do the exact fucking opposite of what 3's story and setting did at minimum
I also just started this and it's really slow.Like I'm used to these games having a slow start but this is something else. Also the voice acting is so flat and terse it's really weird.
>>737953629>Also the voice acting is so flat and terse it's really weird.I'd say that is part of the charm.
>>737953629Game properly starts once you reach chapter 3 and the open world opens up. At that point you can reach like 90% of the world if you're willing to go there.
I've been doing quests from NPCs I'm finding around, but what about Misson Control quests? There's a lot of them, including some generic onesShould I do those too?
>>737954485Yes.
>>737954485Yeah, you're kinda meant to just grab as many as you can at once, and just passively complete them as you go along the game.A couple of them do trigger more standard NPC quests.
>>737954485They're basically stock missions with no story content for collecting clothes and other things. But you should check the ones with weird/or no rewards because there are a few real quests and party members who only appear when you do them. They're all really obvious so don't worry about it too much just check it every once in a while.
30 year old boomer here I barely have time to play a few matches of Mario kart how the fuck do you dedicate yourself to a monster of a game such as this?
>>737954775You play it episodically. Considering the game is far more about the side quests than the main quests it's quite good at that.
Nintendo had no right to make one of the best Sci-fi RPG franchises ever, every game is good in its own way (1 what is literally peak fiction)
>>737953963That's total bullshit. About 60% of the game is reachable on foot. The rest is possible after you get a skell that can fly.
>>737934652Yes. Handheld boost mode is the way to play it.
>>737954775Im playing this and Crimson Desert at the same time.I also have a work tho
>>737933646should I just drop this game right now if I cant stand that you cant button through dialogue?
>tfw you sold the eyepatch
>>737956352You can skip dialogues with either minus or X, I don't remember, but there's definitely a skip dialogue button.
>>737957116doesnt it just skip all of it? It didnt seem like there was a way to skip at the pace I can read.
>>737933646I learned quick cooldown skips secondary cooldown. No wonder quick cooldown isn't in skells thing's busted
>>737957630Oh yeah, you're right, it just skips the dialogue box, which I thought is what you wanted
>>737953963there's a lot of areas you can't reach on foot. Also skells make traveling through water so much better.
>>737944531This is one of the most retarded posts I've ever seen.
>>737933646Some enemy's have reflect, so if you're wondering why you died the moment you hit an enemy. you got spiked by your own attack. Build reflect augs on what element you're using and anti spike for your armor.
>>737959726So, that's why my Ares 90 was one shotedNaruhodo.
>>737960161I think it's a safe idea to just have neg.reflect and spike.eva on you at all time. I got one shotted by a fat deer in an island once.
>>737933646Explore everything, youll get the mech and flying module through main story. You really dont need to worry about gear until you try the superbosses, until then slotting Treasure Sensor for more drops or Potential to increase damage on skills. Find a class you like. As for companions, you can't influence their AI beyond what skills they have. That said: Elma is busted and is worth keeping for Ghost Factory. Lin is okay tank, but she becomes a better better attacker with a Physical shield and Drum Roll. Irina is the best support character in the game and you can get her within hours of starting, only equip Sleep arts and skills if you are controlling her, otherwise trash them. She gives shields, evasion and most importantly, TP. Gwin is set up to be a total loser in every cutscene, but he fucks in combat with Longsword skills. Youll get tons more I wont spoil, its worth to level them for their ability unlocks.
>>737961313You can ditch lin and elma once you get enough arts and skills to theory build. That said if theres a party member you'll always want. It's HB. Man shits out TP for everyone while not dying.
>>737935132>50 hourswtf I got my skell at 20+hours. The first chapters are tiny as hell.
I'm retarded probably but how do I get minerals and money from probes? Are they collected passively so I can ignore them or do I have to collect them somewhere
>>737949881It won't top 1 or 2 for me. I sure do hope it's better than 3 though. I'd frankly like it if we could just move on from the Klausverse honestly.
>>737934420kek
>>737949881They still need solve whole Xenosaga fuckery.
>>737965276Nah.
Why does a sci-fi RPG need bunny outfits?
>>737963817you get probe stuff every 15 minutes. As for getting more out them. Chain probes of the same type and level in node chains with good attributes to them. Usually stuff with minerals on them would have good mineral production linked them. As for getting more probes just explore and unlock treasures. The ones labeled in the frontier nav usually gives you higher level probes. And do kristy's missions. She'll give you storage probes early on so you can stash more miranium
Xb1 and xcx are the only games in the series I like.
>>737961756Bask in the Superior Form. First I build him like a tank that cant die, but as TP battery he is invaluablel
>>737963817Open the map, change to your probe setup, when you click on a probe site, it'll give you a summary, including what, if any, materials can be mined from the site (every site yields Miranium, but only certain specific sites hold other materials, so you'll have to find them). Material extraction happen automatically over time.
As has been said multiple times already, take your time with it. The game will bombard you with shit to do - whether it’s grinding for crafting materials or doing side quests, just do whatever feels interesting to you and develop a “feel” for how the combat and the various mechanics work. Eventually, at your own time, you’ll want to mess around with Overdrive builds. Try and figure it out on your own then maybe later if you want try looking up builds online. Don’t bother with your party members so much, they’re all dumb and get themselves killed often regardless of how you build them, but they do provide minor support and occasionally can even save your back sometimes. Explore as much as you want. Go to Cauldros right away if you want. Just watch out for high leveled enemies obviously. Your choices only really matter for side quests, and even then only some of them. Don’t worry about the main story so much. If you don’t like your Cross, there is a mission later that lets you customize him/her whenever you want. I think you can even change genders IIRC. Take on a Tyrant or two before you get an OP build. Tyrants will quickly turn into checkmarks once you get a good build in, but the few Tyrants that make for good fights will become memorable experiences for you. tldr; be patient and try not to get overwhelmed. this game will throw a lot of things at you but you just gotta play it at your own pace
>>737965547I like them all. I hope the next game has the mobility of X, the world building of 2 and the character progression of Future Redeemed.
>>737966098I thought 2 was fucking awful
>>737965461It stopped being please clap references anon.
>>737933646Abandon the first skell you get. It's absolute shit. Just get any lvl 30 and it'll carry you till you get the lvl 50 ones
>>737966220Still shit.
>>737933646the robot transformation has some weird jank that essentially gives you a double jump.
>>737966079>Tyrants will quickly turn into checkmarks once you get a good build inAlternatively. Just grind a skell to oneshot it. Sometimes you really need to farm tyrants to get a specific gear.
>>737967271Wtf i thought you need the ares to one shot that
I can oneshot basically any boss in the game except for the Telethia and the dragon hiding inside the big orb at sylvanum. Its insane how much fucking HP these 2 cunts have.
It feels like a lot of Xenoblade fans still didn’t buy either version of XDE… I really wonder why :(
>>737933646Befriend lao and max his hearts before chapter 8. Trust me.
>>737959361Everything in that post was 100% correct, and you are in all likelyhood a retard who didn't play the original version and are insecure about having played the worse version of the game.Even the graphics are worse in the remake - a lot of visual effects don't work properly in it, and hair physics was removed so everyone now has rock solid anime hair that looks dumb as shit.
>>737967691I stacked slayers and opening arts in every slot.
Also is anyone sure how important Chapter 13 might end up being to Xenoblade 4/X2/whatever’s next? Will it be like Future Connected where it seemed like it would matter but didn’t matter much? Especially when Future Connected and Chapter 13 share the same directors and writers?
